Very early in our engagement, people started asking me about how I was going to wear my hair for the wedding. This always cracked me up, particularly when I didn’t even have a gown yet! Eventually I did make the decision that I would wear my hair up, in a low chignon with my veil tucked in underneath. So obviously, thinking about wedding day beauty started early, but there was one decision that I didn’t even have to think about: wedding day makeup. See, I’m a lucky bride-to-be. Quite possibly the luckiest, in fact!
Why, you ask? Well, I have a cousin who is co-owner of a cosmetics company. And since he’ll be at the wedding anyway, he may as well provide his services to make me look extra-beautiful, right? Honestly, we’ve asked that this be his wedding gift to us – to provide me and my bridesmaids with day-of makeup. Normally, he charges a pretty good amount of money for this service, so it will be a huge favor to me to help out with our makeup.

So, who is this super-fabulous guy? He’s Chad, with Three Custom Color Specialists.

Chad and his business partners launched Three ten years ago, custom blending lipsticks and glosses in the tiny galley kitchen of their Hell’s Kitchen apartment. They were one of the first companies to offer custom blending services, particularly catering to clients who found that their favorite, sometimes signature lipstick was being discontinued by another company. If you sent in a sample (usually scraped out of the bottom of an old lipstick tube), they would happily re-create the color and send you back two brand new replicas of the lipstick. Fab, right?
Now, in addition to custom blending, Three has a ton of what they call “Ready to Wear” products. And trust me, everything they have is fantastic. Personally, I’m a huge fan of their cream concealer,
their cream to powder blush,

their lip palettes,

their eye shadow,

and their brow gel.

So that’s one less thing to worry about for the wedding day, and I couldn’t be happier about it. I know that there are a lot of great makeup artists in Atlanta, but the fact that I get to spend the afternoon of my wedding with my cousin, while he makes me a glowing beautiful bride just makes me so happy.
And even though he doesn’t know it yet, I’m going to ask if he can do a trial application before the rehearsal dinner. Hey, it can’t hurt to look lovely and bridal the night before, too….right?
