About Mrs. Kiwi

My Boss Is Awesome

September 10th, 2007 @ 1:13 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

As I mentioned before, I was a little unsure about how I’m going to get to the church on the wedding morning. My mom mentioned paying for us to get a limo, but she’s retired and I don’t want her to waste money on something we don’t absolutely need! So, Mr. Kiwi thought it was time we get his sister/MOH to do some work, since she’s offered. Her idea was to borrow a friend’s old car (not like an old pinto, but like, vintage) and go in that.

Mr. Kiwi and I had decided that we should go with that idea, since it kind of helps us out, and we’ll have cool pictures. Friday night, however, my boss called. At work I had lamented to her our issue of wedding day transportation, trying to relay the logistics of who will be going where - “Okay, so the best man will go in OUR car with Mr. Kiwi, his wife will take THEIR car to the ceremony, I’ll go with my MOH and my Dad in the old car, with MOH’s husband driving THEIR car to the ceremony. After the ceremony, Mr. Kiwi and I will go to the reception in the old car, and my dad can take our car.”

I think she may have thought that was a bit stressful, since she called to tell me what the company will give us for our wedding gift. They were racking their brains trying to figure out what the company could give me, as I’ve been here for 8 years now, and I’ve known my boss since I was 7. Their idea? The company would love to rent us a limo for the wedding day!

How cool is that? She told me to think it over, and let her know. I got off the phone, turned to Mr. Kiwi to tell him the news. He was ecstatic! Mr. Kiwi has never been in a limo before and said that it was such a great offer, and we’d be stupid to not take it! This is why my boss is awesome. :)

That is awesome. Now see if they’ll rent you a vintage limo! ;)

It’s great working for a small company that treats you personally. My bosses, who own our company, demanded to know quite a bit before the wedding what we wanted most on our registry. So I said, “I want the KitchenAid mixer, and Mr Pencils wants the Global knives.” What did they do? They bought ALL of them. Yes, the lovely tangerine mixer, and hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of wickedly sharp Japanese steel. Boy, I love those knives, they’re like Ginsu knives on speed. If you haven’t done your registry yet, go for it, people, get Global knives, they’re the choice of chefs worldwide. Anyway, I can’t believe they spent so much, but they love giving presents. I’m very lucky.

oh all you with great bosses are are sooooo lucky! I got shafted when it came to my boss. (didn’t RSVP until a week after the RSVP date, didn’t give a gift, invited other non-invited co-workers to crash the party, and so on..) but life goes on, and I’m looking for a new job! :)

Wow, how fantastic! My mom, sister and I were trying to figure out all the transportation stuff just this weekend (though we’re months away from the wedding). I’d thought we’d just get a town car from my house to the church, but then we started thinking about fitting my mom in it with me, and my brother who’s walking me down the aisle, and our flower girl, who’s my fiance’s daughter, who I want to be with either him or me, so she’s most comfortable…

It’s looking like a limo is a must have! Now to figure out where the car seat’s going to go!
