And Now For The Dress!

September 12th, 2007 @ 12:01 pm by Mrs. Daffodil

As I mentioned in my last post, I wanted to go back and try on Amy Kuschel’s Talia gown one more time before I made my decision. That was when I found my dream gown…

I actually stumbled upon it by chance. When I got to the salon, I had to wait for a little while as the appointment ahead of me was running late. I decided to go browse their gowns…I had been looking around on their website a few weeks ago and had come across a gorgeous dress but was dismayed to see that it was way out of my price range. However, I wanted to just take a look at it in person and try it on for fun.

As I was browsing, I noticed they also had a sample sale rack hanging nearby. I walked toward it and to my pleasant surprise, I saw that exact dress!

(Mr. D, you need to stop reading now!…I’m serious! smiley4013)

It was Amy Kuschel’s Rachel gown all in white! It had all the elements that I wanted in a dress…elegant and simple, a little bit of lace on the bodice, a sash, and a long train. Plus it has the trumpet style look! All in one! And to top it all off, it was 50% off the original price…which was less than what a brand new Talia would cost! I immediately grabbed it off the rack and held on to it, so I could try it on along with the Talia.

Turns out it was such a lucky find…it fit quite well, was in extremely great condition for a sample gown, and it was in my price range! It was tough to make the on-the-spot decision, but I am so glad I did smiley1070. So without further ado, here is the dress….

As you can see, my gown is currently way too long for me. I plan to take it in for alterations when we are about 4 months away from the wedding! A big thanks to my bridesmaid/roommate Caroline who helped me make the on-the-spot decision to buy!

I love it! It is very flattering. Are you going to add the sash? I kinda like how the lace crosses over the sash and I love the big dramatic bow in the back. It is beautiful with or without it, but just wondering…

Gorgeous! Question: Is the front box-pleated or are those seams? It’s hard to tell from the photos.

Wow! That’s amazing! Must be serendipity, that the other appointment was running behind, so you had some time to browse. It was meant to be, and it looks great! It seems like yours has a white sash, instead of the gold on in the model photo, right?

thanks!! it was kinda scary to make the decision right then and there, but if i didn’t, i’m sure it wouldn’t have lasted very long! i love it and it’s so great to hear that yall agree on the decision! :)

natalie, the dress does have the sash, except it is in white instead of gold, so it’s a little bit more subtle!

ljlkc, i think you are referring to the seams…the dress is interesting in that the designer made it with diagonal seams, to give it more shape and to accentuate the trumpet effect…if you are referring to the sash, it’s just wrinkly right now! ;-)
