I Embrace Stress

September 12th, 2007 @ 5:08 pm by Mrs. Peppermint

Okay, so maybe I don’t “embrace” stress, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I enjoy creating it. I keep adding tasks to the wedding planning and knowingly adding stress. Perhaps the worst offender is that I’ve recently decided to throw my annual Halloween Pumpkin Carving party. This event will (or should I say might) occur about 5 weeks before the wedding and I will (or let’s say might) be going insane by then. Now, some of you probably will say that there’s a simple answer: Don’t do it! Yet somehow…I’m compelled to do it. It really doesn’t help the cause when I see cute things like this (from Martha Stewart Crafts):

I mean seriously, folks, how can I not have a Halloween shindig?? After all, my Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza last year was a huge success.

What should I do?!? I can’t stop, I swear!

Are you planning any other big events near your wedding day?

i think that’s a great idea! plus, it’ll get you to think about something other than the wedding, probably a nice respite. everyone needs a break from everything at some point. so party on!

i love the idea of a pumpkin carving party. that sounds like so much fun. i haven’t carved a pumpkin since college

I love halloween as well! My most favorite holiday off them all. I normally throw a huge halloween party every year and wanted to have my wedding in October as well but then I thought… “wait… this is an excuse to have two big parties!”

We chose to have our wedding in June since it’s far enough away from any of my other big yearly commitments partially for that reason.

I still think it’s a great idea - can’t say no to halloween!

Go for it! Mr. Snow Pea began renovating our kitchen 2 weeks before the wedding! Life goes on so why not have fun! I was actually looking at the crafts too. I am going to make the pumpkin “snowmen” more like pumpkinmen/women. I already began our fall decorating, gardening and on halloween, our neighbors are borrowing our yard to make a hunted treasure hunt!

Yup - I’m moving into my fiance’s house. He and his dad are moving the big furniture next week, the rest I’m selling (solid mahagony four-poster bedroom set anyone?). The real fun: we’re not hiring a moving truck so we’re making a gabillion (his wonderful idea) trips back and forth with both the big truck and my SUV. Can’t wait! :-(

On a side note, I was in Michael’s the other day and saw Martha Stewart’s Halloween-themed craft supplies. Cool stuff!

Future Mrs. S.

My wedding is in less than four weeks. Last week I started a new job. This week we started renovating our house in conjunction with a contractor. We’ve been at home depot every night this week. Oh, and I teach part-time in addition to my full time job. I don’t think you’ll be going insane. Quite the opposite - you’ll just tell yourself you have to keep the trains moving for X more weeks.

Look at those cute little test tubes! My husband is really excited for Halloween this year so we might have to swipe some of your finds. Good luck with the party!
