The Lilys, Part 7: Reception

September 12th, 2007 @ 3:14 pm by Mrs. Lily

Part 1: Getting Ready
Part 2: Portraits
Part 3: Ketubah Signing
Part 4: The Wedding Party
Part 5: Ceremony
Part 6: The Cocktail Hour

Here’s the official last batch. Beware, this one is huuuuuuuge. Most photos are from Sergio Photographer, but again a few are from friends.

To pick up where we left off, after the cocktail hour, we jumped right into the reception. Here we are standing outside, just about to make our big entrance:

This what the room looked like when we walked in (but with people!). The colors are a bit off because the lighting in the room was really yellow, but we had sea green table cloths that were just barely metallic, with cream chair covers and high and low centerpieces:

The menu was made by Mr. Lily. He’s got skills. The favor tags were made by Mr. Lily and me (he printed, I stamped them out, glued on a crystal, and did all the bow tying). The favors were stuffed by my parents and I. This took, wayyyyyyyyyy, longer than expected!

Back to the dancing, it’s time for the father-daughter dance:

Time for a few toasts. These were really heartfelt and wonderful:

Look, my girls are wearing the pashminas I gave them!

Just in case the candy buffet didn’t provide enough of a sugar high, lets eat cake! (Sadly, the cake had an accident on the way to the reception. More on this later. Briefly, originally there was supposed to be a big bottom tier –I wanted a HUGE cake– and no flowers, but hey… at least there is a cake and it’s still pretty!) The cake is sea green, but it’s hard to tell here:

Where did you get your scoops for the candy buffet? Or are you selling yours now that you are done with them? If so, I am interested!

(In my best bridal whine) Please please please do a candy buffet review! From jars to scoops to candies to vendors. How much did you order? What kind of bags did you offer? How much was left over? What would you change?

Thanks a million!

Bee-utiful–I love your dress! I don’t remember any posts about it before–

Designer? Model No.? I want details!

Mrs Lily says:

Thanks, guys! I will do a review of my candy buffet if you want. Just give me a bit.

Also, I have written about my dress, but in case you missed it, this dress was my aunt’s first, then my mothers, then mine. It’s a family dress and it meant a lot to me to wear it!

Wow, your MIL’s dress is awesome!! Especially after reading people having difficulty finding MOB or MOG dresses. It’s stylish yet conservative enough and fits her very well!

MCRBride says:

LOVEEEE IT!!
Where you on style me pretty?

Where did your husband get his suit/tie etc?

Thanks!!

9.
Mrs Lily says:

Aw, I’m blushing — thanks Mrs. Plumeria.

Yep MIL’s dress is great, but she is gorgeous so EVERYTHING looks good on her. She actually already had this dress!

MCRBride — what is style me pretty?

Hubby got his suit at Filene’s Basement here in NYC. It’s Hugo Boss. Filene’s has great suit prices (and sales!) for those who have one near them. I heart that store! He bought the tie — I can’t remember where. Maybe Syms?

everything is beautiful, and it looks like it was a rockin’ party! love the use of aqua in a good, non-tacky way, as i can appreciate how hard it is to find it. the cake looks great and delicious, too. yum. lots of great eye candy!

Okay - so I love love love your photos. I do have a question though. Did many people take the candy? I had a fabulous candy table at my wedding and maybe three people took candy so we had a TON of candy left that we had to throw away because it was a destination wedding. I was curious. I think it’s a great idea and looks nice but no one really ate the candy! I guess I’m the only one that loves candy!

Thoughts?

boavoxy says:

I would like to know if anyone takes the candies or not. I’m thinking about doing the samething but not sure if people actually take them

Wow! Your wedding looks and sounds beautiful! I am 5′3 and the to be husband is 6. I guess the first pix of yours would probably sum up how we would look like for our wedding. I enjoyed looking at the photos. Congrats Mr & Mrs Lily.

PS- I love the staircase pix that I link it to my site, if you don’t mind.

Mrs Lily says:

For those of you that asked about candy, yes, it was almost all gone by the end of the night. Out of everything we just had some key-lime hard candies and some hershies kisses left (there were HUGE bowls of both of those). My Mom was worried no one would eat, it but they did! I will blog on this soon…
