About Mrs. Snow Pea

A Letter From The Prez

September 13th, 2007 @ 9:32 am by Mrs. Snow Pea

…or his administrative assistant. After Mrs. Lemon blogged about how you can mail a wedding invitation to the President of the United States, Queen of England or the Pope, I just had to give it a try. Why not, right?

A week after our wedding, we received this! It will make a nice addition to our scrapbook. Whatever anyone’s opinion of the President may be, I felt that it was telling of the times we live in and a reminder to appreciate all things in life.

Sure did. the Pope, Queen & Pres. The only response I got was from the Pres.

UGH THAT MAN!!!

Jennifer says:

You can write to Mickey and Minnie mouse too! I think you get a signed picture from them. Here’s the address:

Minnie and Mickey Mouse
The Walt Disney Company
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, California 91521

Luzl says:

Hi! how long did it take to get the response back? Thanks!

5.
Tara says:

That is so cool! Never thought of doing this. Will definitely make some extras! Thanks!

Mrs. Snow Pea says:

It took 7 weeks, but that’s possibly because they don’t mail it to you until after you wedding date. We received ours a few days after the wedding. I believe you only get a response from the President and not the Queen and Pope because it’s international.

tyffaknee says:

I think I’m going to do something like that: only Mickey & Minnie Mouse (I hear they do send responses back), and some of the Red Sox players. :)

8.
dots says:

I’m thinking about this as well. Micky and Minnie Mouse and perhaps the Prime Minister (since I’m Canadian). We’ve written to the Prime Minister a few times before and received responses from his staff so I don’t see a wedding invitation being any different.

Jean says:

That is really cool that the President of the US sent you his well wishes. It would probably mean a bit more if someone else was in that role but still cool nevertheless.

Wonder what would happen if we invite Santa. LOL. Oh boy -

christigpa says:

Regardless of your political (or religious) leanings, it’s a cool idea if you have extra invites laying around. We have plenty (ordering that extra 25 was only 10 bucks more!). We’re doing the Pres, Pope, Queen - and now maybe Mickey and Minnie.

Tyffanknee, where do the mice live?

Hehehe, I sent one to Mickey and Minnie, and the Pres. :) Anyone know John Krasinski’s address??

mrikagurl says:

I wonder if a gay couple from Mass would get a response…

acklesgrl says:

We are sending one to Mickey & Minnie for sure :) I think we’ll send one to the president too. That’s totally cool.

KTRYCRZ says:

We received a note from the Pres also. We didn’t send an invitation though - my mom’s friend has connections. So it was a nice surprise! They also send announcements for baby’s births, big anniversaries, and big birthdays. I’m not quite sure how to get those though, I guess you can just send a request.

Soon2BMrsV says:

We sent one to the pres and laura, but so far have not receive anything back. I heard about it on here and the knot so I am hoping we will get something too!!!!

Yeah guys- where do the mice reside? :-)

BA says:

Yeah, not to stir the waters or anything, but wouldn’t our tax dollars and their man-hours be better spent fixing the mess in Iraq than sending notes to people about their weddings?!

17.
Jessica says:

We won’t be sending the president an invite, but we will send one to Barack Obama and Oprah (can you tell we’re from Chicago?)

18.
sloe-eyed says:

ew, he’s the last person i’d want to attend our wedding! but maybe i’ll send one to bill and hillary :)

bunnybride says:

I am getting married one year before the next President is sworn in. I am thinking of lying and inviting the next President to my wedding so that I’ll get that card as a one-year gift. I can not bring myself to do it with the one currently in office.

BerryBride2007 says:

Could you imaging if Mickey and Minnie actually SHOWED UP at your wedding??? Now that would be hilarioius. I would probably be mortified! Ha!

21.
aoedorothee says:

hahaha, i think i’d rather have a disney princess show up. do you think the same disneyland address would work if i addressed it to the princesses?

22.
ladyjeni says:

mrs. snow pea,

I think that is a great momento.

I can’t get myself to send one either, I’m the daughter of an injured solider…so you can only imagine.

However I am up for sending the Pope one. We’ll need lots of blessings to overcome the 50% divorce rate. ; )

23.
Jayme says:

i’m with aoedorothee. i want a disney princess!
although i don’t agree with the bush admin., i think that if you sent one it’s more about the time and culture when your wedding took place.

24.
MrsRMR says:

Funny, I was a White House intern for Hillary years back. I used to send these cards out to people (from Bill and Hillary of course)!

25.
Andrea says:

I got one too Mrs. Snow Pea! And yes, mine came the week after the wedding as well. We also invited Will Ferrell but never heard anything ;-)

26.
katya says:

I just got that one from George and Laura within the past week (after mailing out invites in June). I also heard from Arnold Schwarzenegger. No word yet from Mickey & Minnie or Martha Stewart.

27.
Katherine says:

What’s Mickey’s and Minnie’s address?

28.
Jennifer says:

Katherine, I posted Mickey and Minnie’s address towards the top of the comments…for some reason, a moderator had to approve it and it delayed it being posted?? Don’t know what’s up with that :-)

29.
Kaci says:

Totally inviting Darcy Miller from MS Weddings!! Oh, and Oprah. Maybe Ellen too.
And Mr. Obama!!
but not the bush-man…

30.
Meghan says:

we are sending invites to a bunch of famous people. Doubting they show up, but hoping for a neat and memorable scrapbook

31.
lckins says:

did the flowers come with it too? if it did, thats so cool!!

JustOneMoreMonth says:

whoa, we JUST mailed ours to the White House today! That response looks great, I can’t wait to get it!

We also invited the pope, and I’m thinking of sending an invite to Ron Darling. :)

33.
Sarah says:

Actually, you don’t even need to mail an invitation to get a presidential greeting. There’s a very short online form here:
https://app1.whitehouse.gov/greetings/wedding

You can also get one for a new baby, an 80th (or greater) birthday, and a 50th (or greater) anniversary.

34.
eisor says:

I wanted to do this, but we didn’t have any invites left!!

I did go to the link and have a letter sent to my sister when my nephew was born! Hehe. They put it with all of his keepsakes!

I was thinking of sending one to Ricky Gervais and a few others, but probably not W. JustOneMoreMonth…Ron Darling…nice to see some Mets fans on the board!

Becca Cook says:

My parents have a card like that from the Reagans for my grandmother’s 80th birthday. My ex-boyfriend sent a graduation invitation (which I plan on doing as well) and got a congrats for that… and I plan on doing the Pres, Mickey and Minnie and perhaps a few others for my wedding invites.

38.
Marissa says:

bunnybride- The link that Sarah posted says that the request should be made after the wedding and that it must be for a wedding within the past 12 months so depending on exactly when your wedding is I’m sure you could get the next president instead!

39.
bunnybride says:

Woohoo!!

scampy says:

Red Sox, eh? Can I still do that if I’m going to have a mixed marriage? I’m marrying a Yankees fan. ;)

You have all now inspired me to send invitations to a bunch of b-list stars to see what happens.
