Sneak Peek

September 13th, 2007 @ 10:29 am by Mrs. Magnolia

Okay, so I haven’t been able to get myself together and actually take pictures of our Save the Dates — trust me, you don’t want me to go into everything that’s going on!

But here’s what I can give you:

Sneak Peek : wedding save the dates Magnet

Our magnet!

I’m sorry for the poor image quality — trust me when I say that it printed beautifully!

Mr. Magnolia and I are both huge University of Georgia football fans, so when it came time to take engagement pictures, there was no question that we would do so in Athens, at the University. However, the challenge soon became, “So….how about we try to take some pictures inside Sanford Stadium?” Luckily, I know some people (friends in high places come in awfully handy!), and I made some calls. After much (trust me, much) begging and pleading on my part, and promises on the part of our photographers not to use any stadium images in their advertising, we persuaded the right person to get us in. Success!

Back in April we met our photographers in Athens and headed over to the Athletic Department. We were met by my contact and headed over to the stadium. With a swipe of an access card, he opened the gate that leads underneath (where the team buses go), and we followed him down a hill and…onto the field! Well, you know…right next to the field. Then, he told us that he was leaving - he’s *pretty sure* that the field alarm is off, and we are to go ahead and jump the fence onto the actual football field. If the alarm is still on, we’ll figure it out pretty quickly, but “oh, here’s my card…just tell the police you’re with me.” Wha….?

What else could we do? He left and we jumped onto the field. No alarms, no swat teams, not even a campus police officer!

We got some great pictures, if I do say so myself, and we found the perfect one for our Save the Date magnet. Mr. Magnolia had the brilliant idea to combine our magnet with a UGA football schedule, and I agreed immediately — how can you say no to fabulous and functional? And so far, we’ve gotten rave reviews.

In fact, our friend Allen made my week when he left Mr. Magnolia a voicemail saying that in all of his years going to weddings, our Save the Date was the most creative, ingenious one he’s seen. Woo hoo!

Oh man! Ok, I am so glad that I’m not the only one that thought about football (and other folks’ schedules) before setting a date! One of our friends needed to reschedule her housewarming bc it was originally on the same day as Big Game (we’re Cal fans, hehe)!

I scheduled mine on a weekend I knew…well hope…would be an easy game for us. Us Vol fans don’t have to many easy games so I had to choose carefully. Go VOLS!

Super cute idea! :) Adore the fandom and the stadium photos! Our “actual” engagement photos are treasures for us inside the Rose Bowl!

Love the football reference! We got married over the summer so as not to interfere with football season. :-)
