As you can see, album design is an artform in and of itself. A bad design will take away from the essence of the photos. A good design will enhance the story that the photos tell.

I really hope that this series has helped to educate the public about the various albums and album design options out there.

For some reason, it’s a subject that brides know very little about. Brides can recite dress materials, styles, and designers by heart. They educate themselves about various flowers, what season they bloom in, and what they symbolize. They obsess over minute details such as color hues, chair choices, paper stock weight, and more. But they hardly know a thing about album choices… Well, until Weddingbee came along. winky028

After reading through this series, has your view of wedding albums and design changed in any way? Is it more important to you now, of the same importance, or of less importance?

It’s great. Now that I’m putting mine together it’s a bit of idea overload, but it’s really great for me to narrow down my choices.

It’s helped me confirm that I’m definitely put-off by the getting dressed and putting on make-up pictures for a formal album. It’s TMI, like a guest that arrives early for a party and catches the hostess in her curlers; photos like that would keep me from showing an album to certain people. Let them think I’m 100% naturally beautiful, ha!

Mrs. Ant, this series has been so awesome! Thank you for all your hard work to put this info in one place for us! And for sharing your own experiences and designs.

And for starting me on another wedding-related addiction!! At least this one my husband will understand. Sort of. Maybe.

Album design has always been a big priority for me, ever since the beginning of planning, but that might be b/c I am in the publishing/media field. So my thoughts haven’t changed as a result of these posts, but I’m definitely MUCH more knowledgeable. Now my problem is that I see so many different styles that I want to try to emulate, but they’re so different…it might look too hodge-podgy. I’ll have to narrow it down. And I guess I should ask for the Mr.’s opinion while I’m at it… =)

Anyone have an opinion on rotated (non-horiz./non-vertical) shots? I notice that it looks like the majority of pro-designs do not do this. I personally like it, but I wonder why it is not as commonly used?

Actually, many professionals *do* incorporated tilted images into their designs. The reason why they’re not well represented in my blog posts is because I prefer other styles (totally a matter of personal taste). If you look around on the links, you will find more designs with the tilted photos. Good luck!

Dear Mrs Ant,

I am sadden to see that your xanga blog closed down :( I love your Rockhouse hotel wedding. I am wondering how you dealt with the 50 guests “tagging” along while you enjoy the paradise, especially parents and other guests that you may not have otherwise seen unless it’s your wedding. Did you accompany them to visit places? Or they are on their own after your wedding? Did you arrive ahead of time?

Thanks!

Yep, I’m with you there. :)

Fantastic job putting all this information together! Thanks for putting so much work into this series. It’s very informative and I’m sure will be super helpful to many many people. I’m glad I could be of some help. You’ve really provided a great service to many couples with this series.
