About Mrs. Penguin

Well, hello there! It’s me, Miss Penguin!

Just a brief little history about Mr. Penguin and me. We met in college and laughed, loved, graduated, bought a loft, and traveled our way through 6 years of dating. Mr. Penguin and I were (finally!) engaged at Pebble Beach, California on a stormy day in January 2007. I was never the girl that dreamed about my wedding day…I dreamed about retirement. Seriously. Everything between now until then was just details. As soon as we got engaged, I thought it would be best to have a long relaxing engagement, maybe two years or so, after all, I was only 25, we already owned our first home, and we were in no rush.

Then it happened. That’s right, that first wedding magazine fell into my lap and I was no longer a “recently engaged girl” but now a “BRIDE TO BE”.

So our extended engagement quickly shortened to a (still painfully long) 16 months, and we’ve since kicked the planning into high gear. I have a sort of social anxiety with vendors (I should seek help) so instead of hiring lots of people to make our wedding happen, I’m trying to do as much as I can myself, and with nine months to go, and lots already in the works, its turning out to be quite the hand-crafted affair!

When we’re not planning our wedding, Mr. Penguin and I enjoy playing with our dog, Billie Jean, gourmet cooking (well, I enjoy gourmet cooking, he enjoys gourmet eating), NCAA sports, and doing the crosswords. Our current goal is to eat at all 100 of the Chronicle’s “Top 100 Restaurants in the Bay Area”… and we’re getting close!

I can’t wait to share the upcoming months with all of you!

LOL! You sound just like me.

I was all “wedding, schmedding… no big deal” until I realized how picky I acutally am. And then of course I found Martha Stewart Weddings and Wedding Bee and I’ve been obsessed ever since.
