About Mrs. Peppermint

Mr. Peppermint and I had the great pleasure of spending the weekend up in his hometown of Sacramento to go to a friend’s wedding. He’s known the bride since they were kids and Mr. Peppermint and I realized this was the first wedding we’ve been to of a peer (all the rest have been family)…

The couple actually already had the ceremony with just the two of them earlier last week, and the reception was held for family & friends in the bride’s hometown. The venue was the Old Firehouse Restaurant and it was really nice! They had tables filling up the back patio (the weather was perfect, btw) and hors d’oeuvres and an open bar were adjacent in the Golden Eagle Salon. Here are some pictures of the venue (I took the outside, the other two are from their website):

I should also mention where there ceremony had been held just a few days earlier…in Graceland. That’s right, they flew out to Memphis to get married at the home of the King! If you knew them, you would know how perfect a choice this was. As soon as I found out the plan, I kept telling Mr. Peppermint, “I hope they have an Elvis impersonator at the reception!”. Well, I’m happy to say, they did not disappoint…

He even made his way through the crowd and wooed the ladies…

Oh, and they made these cupcakes from scratch for the wedding. The green icing was mint and soooo yum!

I could go on and on about all the things that made the wedding fantastic. And I have to say, I’m so happy that we were able to go before our own wedding. It reminded me and Mr. Peppermint about what we wanted for our wedding: a celebration with our family and friends. It’s easy to get caught up in details like having our monogram emblazoned on matchboxes and the like, but that’s not what matters. While the details helped make it special, it was some of the simplest things that made it great. This wedding was such a blast and I’m so honored that we were included!

The Firehouse is a great place to hold a wedding reception! I work a few blocks from it and attend lunch meetings there frequently. Plus, the food is great as well! Glad you had a good time in Sacto!

The Firehouse is pretty awesome! I went there for prom many years ago and again last year for an anniversary lunch. The horse carriage rides are also pretty neat if you’re in the area.
