We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

The Bombay Company

September 21st, 2007 @ 2:06 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

The Bombay Company’s leaf serving set has long been a sought-after item for fall brides. Why? It looks like leaves. Which is kind of one of the few things associated with Fall, right? Lucky us, the serving set is now in stock and on sale at Bombay Company, during their 72 hour sale. Instead of paying $39.00 for something you may not use in the future, now you can pay $23.40 on something you won’t use.

It is very cute, though. And it’s almost $16.00 off!! Yes, I know I said I wasn’t going to buy into getting a cake server. And I probably won’t. But it’s on SALE!

No, Miss Kiwi. The hotel’s servers are just fine. You don’t need these. Yes, you WANT them, but you don’t NEED them. Anyone else want them?

It’s always NEED vs. WANT……I hate that too…!

Awww those are cute! My wedding wasn’t fall themed AND it’s already over but I STILL want them. I actually had the thought “but couldn’t you use them for regular cake??” before I realized that I’m crazy. :-)

Just think about all those times when you may have company over and want to serve pies and cakes! And what about your 1 year anniversary when you’re supposed to eat the top tier of your wedding cake? You’ll definitely be needing the cake server to serve you and your husband! =)

Gosh darn it… I totally want them, and I’m already married! I just have to keep telling myself, I rarely serve cake in front of people, so my plain cake server will suffice just fine… lather, rinse, repeat…

i know you don’t “NEED” them… but think about the photos and how darling these will look in place of the icky plain ones.

Hmmm. I think I do need them. But then again perhaps the regular old stuff they have at the inn will work just fine…hmmm!

Would it be wrong to carefully wash all the frosting off them and return them to the store?

Those are nice, but look like a pain to clean. Also, are the handles big enough?

I’ve loaned my cake server out to a couple of brides, so I felt justified in the purchase. Or you could sell them on Craig’s List or ebay (or even here!) afterwards for other to-be fall brides.

ooooh! I must have them! My wedding is this fall, and I’ve been putting off getting the serving set. So I really do need to get one. Thanks Miss Kiwi!

Actually, I think you need them. Here’s why: post wedding, you’ll serve cake at your house on special occasions, and your dinner party guests will say “what lovely cake cutters you have” and you’ll say “why, thank you, we had a fall themed wedding in 2007.” GL!

(hope my post doesn’t show twice, my first did’t show)
Here’s why I actually think that you do need them, Miss Kiwi. Years from now, you’ll serve cake at a dinner party that you’re hosting and 1 of your guests will say “oh my, what a lovely serving set” and you’ll say “why, thank you, we had a fall themed wedding and these were perfect.” You see? GL!

I didn’t have a fall themed wedding. But those are super cute and if I was rationalizing I’d say…”but I can use them every Thanksgiving to serve dessert!” Perfect! =)

The very best cake server suggestion I read in all my 15 months of planning was to get the server that matches your silver pattern. Sounds like a no-brainer, but I didn’t even consider it until someone spelled it out to me.

Course, we had a home wedding, so when it came time to cut the cake, the groom’s mother got a big ol’ knife out of the kitchen. Too easy.

justification: its on sale for $23, the cheapest nice pair I could find was crate and barrel at $32. so there you shopped well and you deserve them!
