About Mrs. Emerald

Teary Eyed Surprise

September 24th, 2007 @ 7:12 pm by Mrs. Emerald

It was no surprise I cried multiple times during our wedding day. I cry at everything… sad books, sad tv shows, sad movies, sad commercials…even HAPPY books, tv shows, movies and commercials. Teary Eyed Surprise : wedding Winky1 winky So I was prepared to be a teary mess on our big day and just hoped that I wouldn’t have the “ugly cry” face in half my pictures (thank goodness for waterproof mascara and a professional makeup artist!). But Mr. E is a different story. He is one of those guys who NEVER. EVER. cries. So the months leading up to the wedding, I always said to him, “I really hope you cry when you see me walk down that aisle.”

And he would say, “Why would you want me to cry?! Sorry, it’s not going to happen.”

Ok, it’s not like I wanted him to bawl like a baby or anything. But I just hoped that it would be one of those amazing moments that moved him so deeply, he would just be overwhelmed with emotion. But I figured since we were seeing each other before the ceremony to take pictures, my walk down the aisle wouldn’t have that same *BAM* effect on him. How wrong we were! See evidence below, Mr. E wipes away some tears as my parents lift up my veil.

Teary Eyed Surprise : wedding Z110654725

There were so many emotional moments that day, we both got teary-eyed during every single one of the following hilights:

1. My walk down the aisle, seeing Mr. E, and hugging my parents.

2. Reading our personal words to each other.

3. Immediately after the ceremony, the bridal party recessed into a back room away from all the guests. My sister (maid of honor) and Mr. E’s best friend (best man) both had tears in their eyes when they saw us, and at that moment, every single person in the bridal party got super emotional. Hugs all around, and not a dry eye!! It was one of the most amazing moments of the entire wedding.

4. My parents welcome speech and toast. My mom really had both of us in tears, as well as many of the guests!

5. Each of our 4 toasts from our bridal party. We couldn’t help but get choked up during these as well…

FYI, earlier that day, I sent Mr. E a small bag containing our wedding rings, his cufflinks, a card, and a pack of tissues with a note, “Please put these in your pocket. I will need them.”

that’s so sweet! I’m just like you - I cry when I watch the weddings of complete strangers so I’m going to have to remember to stick some Kleenexes into my bra or something!

Aww, that is so sweet. Mr. Jasmine swears he won’t cry at our wedding either– maybe there is hope that he will :)

Well, I thought I was going to cry but didn’t. I almost did but I’m such a control freak that I didn’t. I thought MAYBE my husband would tear up but not a bit. He had the same response as your husband when I asked him if he was going to cry. :) I think we’re robots.

Aww, that’s so sweet! I hope my fiance (who also never cries and says he won’t cry at our wedding) tears up at least a little bit as I’m walking down the aisle.

I think I’ll probably cry a lot.. haha

awwwww so sweet. i cry at everything too. but my hubby who has never ever cried (except when his previous girlfriend broke up with him, hah!).. well, during our personal vows, his voice cracked (from emotion) and I almost started laughing, because he ALMOST cried. It was so hilarious (to me) that I read my entire reading without a single sniffle. :)

sweet! My husband cried like a baby when he saw me walk down the aisle (and from what I’ve been told, beforehand as well). It was sooo sweet. I, on the other hand, was wonderfully giddy and happy, but didn’t cry. Drats. But I was full of joy, despite not shedding a tear.

I did NOT get teary-eyed reading this post (but almost).

My Fiancee is worried I’m going to pour tears when we get married, making it impossible for her to keep from bawling. I’m like that, though. I gotta figure out how to keep the waterworks down to a trickle, at least. :D

I keep telling my FI that he better cry as Im walking down the aisle. He says he won’t but we’ll see. I’ll have the best man give him a whiff of pepper or something!
