About Mrs. Bee

Greetings From Paris!

September 25th, 2007 @ 7:27 pm by Mrs. Bee

I’ve been here since Sunday afternoon with my mom on our first/last/only mother-daughter trip, and we’ve already done a ton of sightseeing!

Greetings From Paris! : wedding honeymoon Z110778 paris day 1 101
Here I am on the second level of the Eiffel Tower

These are my completely biased and unscientific observations of Paris so far:

1) The stereotype that the French are rude is completely untrue!

2) It’s a very diverse city. Parisians have asked me for directions in French, which hopefully means I don’t look like a tourist ;),  and there must be a large Asian population here.  In two separate instances, I’ve even communicated in Spanish with people who didn’t speak French or English!

3) A lot of Parisians don’t speak English.  (But it’s probably very arrogant to even assume they do!)

4) Paris is like a more charming, cleaner, sometimes more expensive?! version of Manhattan. You can get anywhere you need to go via metro (subway) or bus.

5) There’s a lot of graffiti, smoking, and PDA (but not in that gross way).

If you’d like me to find out anything about Paris while I’m here, please comment below and I’ll try my best.  I’ll be back Thursday night and will write up an extensive review, chock full of tips for maximizing your Paris trip.

Until then, Au revoir! :)

Do they really drink wine at every meal? That shouldn’t be too hard to research =) Have fun!!!!

yes they drink a lot of wine, a lot of coffee (which are what we know as espressos), and eat a lot of bread. ;)

we just got back from the champs elysee where there were a ton of people just drinking out of wine bottles on the street!

Bon soir!
Glad to hear that your trip in Paris is going well so far. I was in France a couple of summers ago and I have to say that the biggest thing I love about the culture is that the older you get (as a woman) the more elegant and beautiful you become. The French (and many other European country-women) place more emphasis on themselves than what they live in or what they drive. They spend a lot of money on fashion & style. I’m always so inspired when I come back from Europe. I hope you have une bonne voyage!

mrs. bee: you have to go to the centre pompidou! it’s one of the best museums in the world. the building itself looks like a fun house!

i also bought a ton of notebooks and stationery… my favorite are the stationery floors of all the department stores. why don’t they have those here?!

random, but definitely go to a pharmacy and check out their beauty products! the U.S. is always behind on getting the latest goodies from Europe. plus, they’re often half the price! for example, la roche-posay sunscreen and beauty products (http://skincarelab.stores.yahoo.net/suncare2.html) are about $40-60 U.S. but in france it’s under $10.

it already looks like you’re having a blast! enjoy the rest of your trip.

Are there any vegetarian/vegan restaurants there? Or would vegetarians just be laughed at?
