Our Ceremony Programs

September 25th, 2007 @ 12:02 pm by Mrs. Licorice

This was one of the most time consuming projects! I only say that because I had to redo the inner sheet that contained all the information. Teehee. That’s all. You think I would have learned not to do so much during those hours after midnight from this b00-b00!

Initially, I had a tough time deciding on how I wanted the programs to look.

As time wore on, I decided to create something that was simple. I saw this in Martha Stewart Weddings (my wedding planning bible):

Mini programs! How cute! I was further convinced this was a good idea by this photo in Southern Weddings (my other wedding planning bible):

I read in MS Weddings to start by designing the cover. I kept it really clean by using my square monogram and pretty text pieced together on Photoshop Elements:

Next, I typed up information using Illustrator for the inner sheet. I used Luxe White text paper that I had previously ordered through Broadway Paper. Similar paper can be purchased through Paper-Source for a bit cheaper. I had to feed the paper two seperate times through my inkjet.

Then, I used a paper scour I had purchased at Michael’s to create a crisp crease for folding (a dull butter knife works just as well.) I glued the top of the back of the paper to the inside of the cover just under its crease. I didn’t want to rely on ribbon to keep everything secure.

I found some Kate’s Paperie double-satin ribbon at Sam Flax in Atlanta. I used a little hot glue to keep the ribbon in place.

For display, I bought a galvanized tin bucket from Michael’s. I filled it about halfway with silk flower foam because it was cheap and stiff. I’m sure old newspaper would work, too. I then covered the top of the foam with moss to finish the look.

By the way, I wish I had followed Mrs. Snow Pea’s sage advice; I made way too many programs!

I know that ceremony programs aren’t totally necessary, so I was wondering is there anyone not having ceremony programs at all? If you are having them, are you making them yourself?

what kind of glue did you use to attach the inside sheet to the cover (and how much did you use?) … i’ve been experimenting and it always seems to come out with bubbles and wrinkles :(

We didn’t have any at all. I can’t remember the exact reasoning, but I guess when it came down to all the things I had to do in the last three months, that just wasn’t on the list.

I don’t know that anyone missed them, but who tells someone “Hey, I loved you wedding, but where were the programs?”, so I probably don’t know for sure.

On the other hand, I use programs as a souvenir when I go to other peoples weddings.

Yours are beautiful…I love the idea of mini programs!

Oops! I meant paper scorer! Hahaha

unionsqbride: I used Herma Dotto. It’s a glue runner that I frequently use for scrapbooking. It comes in removable and permanment adhevsive. It’s almost a dry adhesive, so there are no wrinkles or bubbles. You can buy it at Target, Wal-Mart or just about any scrapbooking store.

ladyjeni: I used Bickham Pro for the script and Minion Pro for the main text.

Sorry for all the pictures! I couldn’t resist!

This is probably a stupid question, but how do you use the paper scorer? Do you just make a big long dent with the scorer and a ruler?

Your programs look great!

You did a great job!

I didn’t have programs. I had a small (52 guest) family wedding - only a MOH and BM in the wedding party - they really weren’t necessary.

Basically, yeah! I just pressed the pointy tip into the cardstock. It left a dent that made foldng easier and crisper.
