Oh The Places We’ll Go, Part 3

September 30th, 2007 @ 1:55 pm by Ms. Dahlia

Part 1 - What we were looking for.
Part 2 - So Mr. Dahlia vetoed Mexico.

“But what about Spain?” we thought to ourselves. So many people have said that Barcelona is amazing. And you can rent out really nice apartments for way cheaper than you would get in a comparable hotel. Check it out here.

Just a sample of what is available:

Studio apartment in Las Ramblas for 120 euros, or roughly $160.

Nice kitchen

very chic bath

and your own private terrace!

And if we wanted beach time, there is always the Canary Islands.

The above pictures are from the Hotel Palm Beach, which has the modern, design styled rooms shown below. This place has decent tripadvisor ratings.

Or if you want something more traditional, consider the Hotel San Roque, also with good tripadvisor reviews.

The regular room.

Or splurge on the tower room.

Complete with its own terrace

that has views of the ocean.

But after some discussion, we decided that Spain was not the place for us- partly because we wanted more hotel like amenities, and partly because Mr. Dahlia had fallen in love with someplace else.

Ohhh I’m sorry to hear Spain didn’t make the cut! Have you checked http://www.secretplaces.com?

I found the Canaries a little bit boring - not much to see. Majorca is lovely if you were thinking of Spain…

Hi there- We went to Barcelona for our HM and LOVED it! We stayed at the Hotel 1989 on Las Ramblas and it was amazing…had everything we needed and wanted - indooor pool and spa, great lobby, chic furnishings, and a rooftop pool and bar to die for. It was the perfect city for us…but good luck!

we went to barcelona and then the south of spain (marbella, granada, seville) for our honeymoon. we loved it but i think in retrospect i woulda liked something a little more chill because i’m a sightseeing fanatic and wasn’t able to rest with so much to do! :)

i went to barcelona last november and stayed in that same exact apt in las ramblas! the apt was not as nice as the pictures and i wouldn’t recommend it for your honeymoon, but it was a great apt for a regular vacation. the location can’t be beat and for a very good price! i was sold based on the terrace too! however there are no lights up there so you’d have to bring candles.
