About Mrs. Strawberry

In 1971, Georgia Gerber, a local sculptor, created the bronze piggy bank, Rachel, as a fundraiser for Pike’s Place Market. Since that time, Rachel has raised over $120,000. In 2001, Gerber created a mold for the first Pigs on Parade. Celebrating the Market’s centennial, the pigs decorate street corners throughout the city. 100 to be exact. We were lucky enough to have two near our hotel! :)

I too love our Seattle piggies. I’m very fond of the construction piggy just outside the other entrance to Pike’s, near the brewery. Your pictures are so cute!!!!

I love reading Mrs. Strawberry posts since I’m in her neck of the woods. Yep, I’ve seen those piggies. I agree with Amanda…those just beg for pictures.

Lovely photos - looks like you all had a great time. Now, back to dealing with waste electronics (not as much fun!)…

That’s so cool! What fun pictures. I loved the Chicago Cows on Parade in the summer of 1999, and I wish they were still around for pictures when we get married next April! Actually, there still are a few of them around the city, perhaps I could seek them out…

The one you’re kissing is supposed to be “Green Eggs and Ham” a la Dr. Seuss. For everyone who doesn’t live in Seattle, it’s in front of the new Seattle Public Library. The one in front of Hotel Monaco is my 2nd favorite. My favorite is the one inside Macy’s! Super cute pictures!

Wow! And the 2 nearby totally match your wedding :) That’s lucky — I live in Seattle too and I’ve seen the one with the bellman’s uniform and popcorn pants. Bizarro! But awesome :)
