Registry #2 - Crate and Barrel

October 2nd, 2007 @ 5:17 pm by Mrs. Penguin

Mr. Penguin and I took a Sunday morning to take advantage of some Crate and Barrel freebies at a spring registry event. We hop between the Bay Area and Sacramento often, so after our bummer of an experience at Williams Sonoma San Francisco, we decided to try our luck at the Crate and Barrel in the Galleria at Roseville.

With low expectations but high hopes, we entered the store and were greeted warmly and directed to all the right places at all the right times. They appeared to have a sales associate working every section of the store, so that any time you had a question, a knowledgeable staffer was on hand.

Crate and Barrel runs their registry events like pros. We were pleasantly surprised by fresh OJ, champagne, pastries, and fresh fruit, even crepes and pancakes that they freshly made on site, doubling as a demo for some of their appliances! The sales associates that were staffed in each section of the store knew answers to questions like “Does this come in another color? How does this doohicky work?” without having to consult a manual, book, or coworker.

We registered for the majority of our necessities at Williams Sonoma, but mostly registered for glassware, bar ware, and everyday china at Crate and Barrel. Their selection is great, and it gave our registry a bigger depth of price ranges for our guests.

We didn’t find any fine china that really “wowed” us, so we’re making one last stop at Bloomingdale’s to finish up the registry. Two down, one to go!

Do you know if C&B offers any good incentives besides events for registries? I’ve heard that BB&B has a good return policy and gives you a percentage off of items not received.

We registered at the Bloomingdale ’s in SF and we LOVED it. GREAT morning spread, VERY helpful, fast service very informative as they have vendors from the different sections(China, luggage, Flatware, ect) there to give demo and take questions. Plus a nice little tote bag Full of freebies that I loved and use daily :)
I know it sounds like I work for them but I have registered before at other stores and this is the one I wish I could re-register just for the bag of goodies :)
You will love it!

I believe you get 10% off (one time in store and one time online) after your wedding to complete your registry, good for 3 months.

You can exchange anything (for store credit), but I dont think they give you cash back, like they do at BB&B.

Crate and Barrel, you get registry coupon within 4-6 weeks after the wedding that is 10% off just one time, either in store or online. Just to clarify. :) Williams Sonoma/Pottery Barn both have the same deal, but theirs is good for a year.

I believe crate and barrel has changed their policy to one time IN STORE in addition to one time ONLINE. (not just either or)

You can get your credit back as a check that they mail to you. Once our credit reached over $600, I asked them to send us a check for some flatware that we returned.

We didn’t get crepes and pancakes, bummer!!
