About Mrs. Bee

Eva Scrivo Salon

October 4th, 2007 @ 10:28 am by Mrs. Bee

I’d heard so many great things about the Eva Scrivo Salon, and since it’s in my neighborhood, I finally went in for a haircut a couple weeks ago.

I have a really chubby round face, so I just told my stylist Donna ”don’t make my head look big.”  She cut off a good 5 inches so that it was just past my shoulders and gave me side swept bangs.  It took a little time to get used to because I’ve had boring, long, parted in the center hair forever, but it’s grown on me and really is the best cut I’ve ever had (it looked better when she styled it because I’m not very good with hair).

I also highly recommend my fantabulous colorist Paul Cucinello who’s at the new Chris Chase Salon.  He was previously named best colorist by New York Magazine, and is one of the nicest guys around.  He gives you the most natural looking color and highlights - even Donna at Eva Scrivo said he did a fantastic job (ignore the 2 inches of root growth in these pics). :)

Donna and Paul are both super talented, and I definitely recommend them for amazing pre-wedding cut and color!

Tell us about your wonderful hair stylist in your neck of the woods!

I freaking love my hair stylist. I used to live in Chicago, and my fiance lived in small-town Wisconsin. I got so fed up with my haircuts in the city that I started going to his hair gal (he’d just been going to the salon his mom goes to, which is hilarious enough). So now he and I have the same hairdresser! She does AMAZING work and I get compliments from strangers all. the. time. on my haircuts! (Which is a huge ego boost :)) The best part is that the small-town haircut comes with a small-town price: $22 + tip if you come in with already-washed hair. She is a GEM!

Bee, you look beautiful! Your hair is gorgeous!

In Chicago, I highly recommend Tim for hair and Nora for color at Salon Buzz in River North. I adore them both and every time I walk out of the salon, I feel like a million bucks.

I got tickled at what Aliya said because I too get small town haircuts. I’ve been using the same people since I was a teenager. The sad thing is, I moved away some times ago, but I still save major style changes for when I go to visit my parents. They tell people “We have a girl that drive here from Atlanta to let us do her hair” LOL
Your hair looks awesome!

I love it! And maybe I’m blind, but I see no chubby round face in those pictures.

Looks great Mrs. Bee! I love the side swept bangs on you.

I go to Art & Science in Chicago (the Wicker Park location) and I have had my hair done by a few stylists there, but my favorites are Gil and Kim. Mr. Radish gets his hair done by them too.

They are both fabulous and I highly recommend them… especially if you have curly, hard to manage hair like me and Mr. Radish.

That hairstyle is really great on you Mrs. Bee! I also have a round face, and the most flattering hairstyle I’ve ever had is long layered hair with sideswept bangs. The bangs really help minimize the emphasis on my round face shape.

I don’t know what I was thinking that day because I am *so* not a risk-taker, but I let my hairstylist add bangs after 10 years without them on the very first time I ever met her. It was the best decision I ever made with my hair. I love my hairstylist and the salon, it’s like a small boutique salon where I know all the stylists’ life stories but it’s in a big city. Feels like a small town salon though.

I guarantee my face is rounder and chubbier than yours. :-P

I’ve been looking for a stylist who will actually listen to me when I say I want some hair to cover the sides of my face to elongate it. So far, everywhere I’ve been in NY, the stylist says “Why do you want to cover your face?” and does whatever she wants. Thanks for the tip - I’ll be making an appointment with them. Did you get a cut with Eva herself or someone else?

I love love love Lucia at XacAnthony Salon in NYC. I used to go to her when I lived in NYC and I still go even now when I live in Chicago ( yes, I am one of those crazy people who fly across the country to get their hair done, haha. Just kidding, my lovely bf lives there and I go about once a month so I just plan it during one of my visits. )

Mrs. Bee, you are beautiful and your hair looks great!
Tres Chic.
In Atlanta, I LOVE Robin Kooken at Grow Salon.
funny, sweet and makes my hair look like a million bucks.
She’s rock and roll but knows how to do traditional (like my hair trials…)
She’s the bee’s knees!

I agree with Emily, Mrs. Bee, your face is not round! I would totally beat you, plus I have quadruple chins so it makes my face even rounder when it shows. :(

I certainly agree about donating your hair. For people who unfortunately their hair doesn’t grow, I may be able to solve your problem. I perform the highest quality hair extensions & safest available today. I use NO heat, glue, sewing, protein. The hair extensions are simply clipped in by a bead. The hair is 100% virgin human hair (you can later donate, whenever) & is reusable. I’m located in NY & travel to your house.

I am thinking of going to Eva Scrivo salon myself. I’ve got really long hair so I need somebody who knows her stuff to cut it. I want a hairSTYLE and not just a hairCUT :)

How much is it to get a haircut at the eva salon?

You look great with the new hairstyle by the way!
