Little Clothes

October 4th, 2007 @ 8:32 am by Mrs. Peppermint

My next mission is to find a flowergirl dress. Since my 4 year old flower girl is always growing, we decided it was best to wait a while to pick the dress. My only desire is that the dress be pink (preferably a light pink…nothing too bright). I don’t want to break the bank and I must admit that I was pretty shocked to see that some of the dresses were more expensive than many BM dresses! Here are some of the contenders:

First we have Us Angels Style 217 (approx $250–various quotes from salons in the area). This one may just be my favorite. The only downside is the price. While my flowergirls’ Mom has generously offered to pay it, I don’t want to put that burden on her.

Another pricey option, I stumbled upon this beautiful dress after reading Oh Happy Blog!’s post about the kids designer, Meli Meli. Here is one of the many adorable choices: Monaco Silk Ruffle Dress ($246)

Also by Meli Meli and a bit more price conscious is the Romanticism Rose Tulip Dress ($51.60):

Here is the Meli Meli Beautiful Betty Party Dress ($60.20):

For a soft pink and a fairly reasonable price, I found the Luna Luna Versailles Tutu Tutu Dress ($98):

Which dress do you like?

Have you picked out your flowergirl’s outfit (or are you letting the Mom do it)? Where did you look for dresses? Any tips on finding a good bargain?

They are all real cute! I need to see a pic of your bridesmaid dress to pick my favorite. #2 and #5 are the two the have caught my eye :)

Just make sure it’s comfortable for her - and allows her to run around and be crazy!! When she starts acting like the 4 year old she is and having fun at the reception you don’t want the dress to be ruined (or get in the way) :)

If you’re worried about cost something like ebay might be a good option - like bridesmaid dresses these are rarely worn twice!

Not to throw more fuel on the fire, but have you considered going halfsies with the flower girls’ parents? I’m sure neither of you wants to spend $200, but $100 each isn’t so bad. Then you could afford something outstanding. Check out Fox’n Lily (www.foxnlily.com). They have some of my favorites, and they are custom made so you can pick any of the styles and ask they use pale pink fabric.

I picked out my FGs dresses and I didn’t want to break the bank for the moms either. I picked an Us Angels dress and we ordered it from Pearl’s Place. They were less expensive through Pearl’s than quoted at the retail stores and we got them back in about 4 weeks. No problems at all.

I really like the Meli Meli Beautiful Betty but can’t tell if that pink will work for you; otherwise, my fave is the Versailles Tutu Tutu!

I love that pink ruffle dress, but wow the price!

Here’s the one you like online for $168:
http://www.advantagebridal.com/usa217.html

or here:
http://www.boutique4kids.com/us-angels/detail.asp?c=0&p=Style217

And the best place, RK Bridal, carries the brand. Just call them and ask their price. If it’s higher than those, order online and they beat the lowest price by 5% (they will charge the other company’s fees though).

I like the Tutu dress, but I’d hem the sleeves and make them short instead of long. And I like the last one, but I’d remove the flowers– they just look weird to me.

Almost makes me wish I’d had a flowergirl… so cute!

It was fast, reasonably priced and looked great on my flower girl. They have the style that you are looking for in pink for $59.50. Here’s the link:

I believe you can find US Angels on amazon for a lot less! Also, try Target, especially around Easter time. And Sears!

I love the 2nd one!

I got my flower girl dresses from Strasburg Children. I got white dresses but when I took one of my flower girls to try on dresses she fell in love with a pink dress there and screamed when her mom wouldn’t buy it for her. It was adorable. Thought you might like it. It is still pretty expensive, but super cute and light pink.

I almost got away with just getting whatever dress looked good for my little sister. But she has sensitive skin and can feel every little scratch of a cheap dress. So, I spent more than I had wanted to at Macy’s for an A-line white floor length dress that sadly, yes….she only wore once. But at least she was comfortable.

For those willing to try the second-hand stores (the ones geared toward babies and children are the best), there are some nice ‘worn once’ dresses and tuxedos for decent prices.
