About Mrs. Butterscotch

Today was the day on Today!

You may have been following the Today Show and Martha Stewart planning a wedding for one lucky couple this summer.  This morning, Jessica and Cody finally got to have their dream wedding ! It was amazing! For those of you who haven’t been following, the audience gets to help plan the wedding by voting on key aspects like the wedding dress, rings, cake, etc. Here are some highlights!

Yesterday Miss Jasmine asked us the question “Would you ever let your parents choose your wedding gown for you?”

Some of you were apprehensive about that.  Would any of you be up for letting complete strangers plan your wedding if the entire wedding were free?

ONE WORD: YES.

Miss P has lots of bills to pay! Weddings are wonderful and such a great time to add your own personality and style, but if Martha is involved? I’m putty in her hands. :)

If I get to meet Martha - hell yes!

For most things I would love it. I don’t know about letting them choose the dress and especially the rings though (since I have to wear the ring forever, I would like to choose it myself), but hell yeah I would let them pick the flowers and colours etc!!

Hell yeah I would! The choices are almost always fabulous and with Martha Stewart involved, it’s guaranteed to be tasteful, classy, and creative.

Maybe I’m a bit of a control freak but my answer is hell no. It’s going to be my own terms because I’m a perfectionist…just like my girl, Martha. Haha!

This is so funny….I’m reading a book called “All Dressed in White” by Carol McD. Wallace and the very first chapter opens with a publicized wedding (I can’t remember the couple). It was very beautiful on TV, but what people didn’t see were the many camera crews, poor parking, lack of personal space etc. I guess the hosts were the first to greet them as Mr. and Mrs even before the parents. Were they really that close?

On the other hand, you’d be in the TV history books forever and were guarenteed good videographry and photographry covereage.

I suppose that I would do the paid public wedding and then go with a private ceremony later. Nah, I wouldn’t change a thing.

YES!!! but only if Martha was involved because we all know the choices to choose from would all be awesome to begin with.

So I would not be worried… and for FREE…
how awesome is that!

I’m saying no on this one. The thought about a 3:00am start to the day with the public witnessing the marriage….I want my wedding a reflection of us, witnessed just by family and friends. I guess I’m too control-minded. Jessica and Cody’s wedding did look fabulous, though! Martha has wonderful taste!

One of my best friends from college works with the photographer for the Jessica and Cody’s wedding. He also photographed the Kennedy weddings and Mariah Cary’s wedding. How cool is that?

Chrissie says:

No. Not because I would care about picking out my own linens or whatever, but b/c I liked having things that were meaningful to us. It made things that much more special.

Plus, if you got married on the Today Show, you would have to deal with a NYC marriage license and all of their name restrictions!

yes. you would be sacrificing a lot in return, but I feel like you’d really be able to relish in the moment and not worry about all the details…

I’m torn on this one. Yes because Martha was involved and so you know you’d be getting the best of the best. And of course it’s free so that’s the biggest plus. But when they announced the dress, the cake and the rings, I was bummed because those weren’t the choices I voted for. Hahah. Yes I got caught up in the whole thing (for ideas). But Cody and Jessica are young so I am sure for them, anything would have been great. But did you see how thrilled they were when they found out which honeymoon they got? You can tell that was the one they really wanted!

Tea says:

nope, not even if martha did it herself. i don’t reallly want to share that day with the public, just my close friends and family. plus, i’m really uncomfortable with having other people make my decisions for me. i’d much rather have OUR dream wedding on a shoestring budget instead of america’s dream wedding on an unlimited budget.

staceyb says:

OH YES! i am loving all the planning, but if it were all paid for by someone else, i’d gladly let them plan it all. i already have the ring i want and i’m marrying the guy i love, so what else matters, really? i can always take fake wedding pictures later if i totally hate the wedding and no one has to know. :)

suzi says:

Most definitely. While planning is great, there is something to be said for not having tons of stress and just enjoying the day. That and Martha is coming up with all the ideas. And who doesn’t love Martha’s ideas?

BaghdadBride says:

yes just to save the money but I have to say I was kind of disappointed with the audience choices…it all looked nice but they went with the most 100% typical stuff…there wasn’t a lot that was very unique about the wedding. Same ol’ strapless ballgown that everyone wears, pink colors, etc. I would hope that my fantasy audience would try to be more creative and modern.

I would! Planning a wedding is a pain…. On another note, does anyone know who the designer of the mother’s dress was? It was so beautiful and my mother in law is looking for something similar for my brother in law’s wedding.
