Photos From Friends and Families

October 8th, 2007 @ 1:26 pm by Mrs. Lollipop

I admit it, we totally stole Ms. Lemon’s idea to collect photos from friends and family using flickr. We printed our account information on the back of our seating cards, and while they weren’t as pretty as Madame Lemon’s, they did the trick. Well, it helped to have a bridesmaid willing to cajole people by email. (Go Aileen!)We ended up with some wonderful photos that have a slightly different perspective than our professional ones. My favorite is the shot below of us immediately after the ceremony.
Wedding03

Some photos captured memorable moments even before our photographers arrived. We made the boys wait in the basement after I ran home to get my dress. I didn’t want Mr. Lollipop to see me after I’d had my hair and makeup done. Wedding04

Other pictures revealed the point of view of our friends and family. Along side our professional pictures they provided a more complete record of the day.

I needed lots of help getting my shoes on.
Wedding05

My ladies looked fabulous as they waited for pre-ceremony pictures.
Wedding06

We took a long ride up the zoo escalator to get to the aquarium shuttle.
Wedding07

The best man served as guardian over our plastic Blessed Virgin Mary as we moved her from the ceremony to the reception.
Wedding08

Some of our friends clowned around in the tunnels around the stingray tank. Wedding09

There are many more photos still to come once our professional shots are ready for release. Stay tuned!

You’re dress is beautiful!

I agree…several guests brought their cameras, but it’s been like pulling teeth to get any pictures back. I don’t even want prints. Looks like you and Mrs. Lemon had the right idea.

Mrs. L–Quick question…when you set up the flicker account, did you have to give your sbc account password? I signed up for an account for free since I currently use sbc as my dsl provider, but got confused as to how to allow others to post on my account in flickr. It seemed like I had to give them the flickr password (which is also the same as my email password, since that’s the only way to get it free). I don’t feel comfortable givng access away of my email/login pw to all of the guests.

Any ideas/recommendations/help?? I love the idea of sharing one site to get everyone’s pictures, but was hoping it would be easier than this.
Either respond here, or send me an email to:

thanks so much and CONGRATULATIONS!!

Hey Mrs. Lollipop! I, too, have a quick question (which I’m sure you may have addressed in a previous post, but it’s my lunch break and I’m lazy) - What company are your BM dresses from? I want the exact same color (a bright, “true” kelly-ish green) in different styles.

The only place I’ve been able to find something like this is Aria and the Dessy/After Six group. Your dresses look like they might be from Dessy/After Six, or are they from a different company? What’s the color name? Is it possible for you to give me a price range?

I’m sorry for being a high-maintenance commenter, and I hope to get a response from you soon. :) Or I guess I can suck it up and look though your old posts like a normal reader. :)

Thanks for any info you can provide!

anaj95- flickr lets you set up free accounts that have a limited number of uploads per month (and a max of 200 photos on display). If you set up a new one, you could create a login/password that would be easy for your guests to remember.

It could be kind of a bummer to work within the restrictions of a free account, when you already have a pro one (but I have a friend who did it recently with a free account, and it’s worked out)–but that would be an option, if you don’t want to share your password & don’t want to pay for a 2nd account…

If a lot of your guests already have flickr accounts of their own, you might want to just set up a flickr group and invite them to share their photos with the group…

Hey there, Weddingbees.

The bridesmaid dresses are from David’s in clover. They also have the color from Alfred Angelo.

The flickr account is a pro account. Mrs. Lollipop had the directions, account name, and password printed on the back of our seating cards.

Thanks for answering those questions for me, Aileen! Most of the pictures above are yours, right?

Ladies and gentlemen, my cousin and bridesmaid, Aileen! (Round of applause)

anaj95,
I just paid for a new pro-account. It was totally worth it for the $30 and we’ll change the password when we feel like making the account private. Mrs. Lemon talks a little bit about setting up her free account in the entry I linked above.

Yep! Mostly mine. I was thinking of going back and tagging the ones from my camera.

How did you get them to upload pics directly into your account? Did you give them your username and password (like they were you logging in and uploading pics?) or is there another way to do this? I tried to see if the invite thing works but it makes everyone create their own account. Is there anyway around this?

The group thing…I think they have to create an account too…but can they upload photos unlimited? Or do they have to have a pro account too? I have asked Flickr but they haven’t gotten back to me yet…

Thanks!

Tanya–

We gave them a username and a password and trusted everyone to not mess with the account. It’s worked so far. (Knock on wood!)
