Baby’s Breath… Are You Sure?

October 10th, 2007 @ 6:35 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

When I told everyone I wanted baby’s breath everywhere, they looked at me with disdain. It’s cheap. It’s a filler flower. Yes, I know, and I want it! I wanted to invoke a certain feel to the day and I was convinced baby’s breath would help me do it!

While I was at it–I threw some carnations in the mix!

And perhaps some plain greenery?

I saved on some flowers and splurged on others!

Even for the day after pics–the flowers held up pretty well! ;)

I’m glad you stuck to your vision. The baby’s breath really creates such a light airy feeling. The flower girl crowns were adorable!

Its more about how you use something more than what you use. Kudos to you. Everything looks fabulous!

I do think baby’s breath on its own is nice. And I love to tuck bunches of it in my christmas tree branches. So lovely.

Your flowers are gorgeous, and I enjoy reading your posts. Your wedding looks like it was fabulous.

Wow - The door flowers are so beautiful, very light and airy. Did you make them yourself? What is the backing?

What kind of flowers are in your bouquet and in the centerpiece under the picture of the greenery? They’re gorgeous!

I wanted a bouquet completely made of babys breath and had EXACTLY the same reactions from everyone as you had. Changed to green hydrangeas then, which were beautiful, but nevertheless I can absolutely understand your love for Babys breath :-) btw: In German Babys breath is called Schleierkraut, which you can roughly translate with: Veil herb… So its kind of perfect for a wedding :-)
Greetings from Germany!

My florist actually did them. I’m not sure if it’s just plain cardboard or not. I’ll have to investigate! :) They actually are nice and dried and we are going to hang them in the guest bedroom. My shabby chic room in the house! :)

Wow. My wife loves baby’s breath but never thought to do something that bold. Don’t always listen to the experts.

as for the flowers in teh bouquets…let me see if I can remember.

David Austin roses: they are as close to peonies as you can get!

cymbidium orchids, lizianthus and freesia, sweat peas, and the green drippy stuff on my bouquet is amaranthus. hth! :)

That’s sooo pretty and feminine! Romantic! :)
Mrs. Strawberry.. how did you hang the wreath on the door (you know… without “damaging” the door surface)?
Also… did you DIY your wreaths?

Thanks to your post, I was able to find more ways to use baby’s breath on my wedding… I actually plan to use it as a bouquet…. yup that’s it …no big flowers… just plain and simple… =)
