My Hair Trial

October 11th, 2007 @ 1:26 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

I had my hair trial last week. I originally went in wanting one thing, but came out with something completely different! Okay, not that much different since it’s almost exactly the same as Mrs. Strawberry! Seriously, Mrs. S, I had NO idea I was going to come out with the same hair!

So I spent three and a half hours getting my hair done. It took so long because my hair is very long and thick and takes FOREVER to dry (two and a half hours under the drier on HIGH). To get the curl, we’re going to use perm rods minus the solution. It took about 15 minutes to take the curlers out and to pin my hair. So, since I’m planning on setting it all the night before, I won’t need to worry about the time!

Here are some pics my dad took (the kind man stayed with me the whole time, watching The Office on my ipod, and talking to me while I was getting fried- I mean, dried) after the appointment.

A front picture (hello, reflecting glasses!)

Another of the top (kind of), with my tiara askew and hair slightly flopped in front!

With the veil down (it was windy). I’m still unsure about which veil to use.

So that was my hair trial! As you can see, I’m going to work on where to place the hair thingie, and hopefully the curls will loosen up a bit. :) My waist length hair was up around my shoulders with so much curl in them. My hair stylist gave me a tip: don’t use water to make curls loosen. Instead use a hair dryer!

Looks great!!! One question though - do you not want the tiara visible at all from the front? B/c right now with the poof (flashback to Mrs. Strawberry’s poof or sweep post…) you can’t really tell there’s a tiara on from the straight ahead view. But it looks fantastic regardless!!

Yeaaah, not quite sure WHAT to do with the tiara! I think I may move it around after the ceremony!

thanks for the pinning idea… i used to do that as a little girl (pin curls) and forgot all about it! maybe i’ll give that a test.

lookin’ good miss kiwi!

The poof really works on you. But you’re right, I think it would look better with the curls a little less tight.

I’m glad you had a great hair trial!

Yeah, I just had to come back and comment again on how freakishly shiny your hair is. It’s incredible!!! How do you keep it so healthy???

Thanks everyone! Mrs. Bluebell, honestly? I have no idea. It’s my mom’s hispanic genes mixing with my dad’s genes! I get the shininess and thickness from her, but the texture is dad’s!

Absolutely beautiful. I think I might use you as my inspiration for my hair!

Are you concerned about the bobby pins being visible on the top of your head? Would you consider moving the veil up?

Thanks again, everyone! Amanda, I’m definitely considering moving up the veil! I’m also thinking about just using a black rubberband for the top poof! kind of like a shih tzu!

hey miss kiwi.. were you going to wear your glasses on the wedding day.. i think i remember you writing a post on it..
if you do.. maybe you should get that anti-reflection glaze.. so you can be sure you don’t cover up your eyes in those wonderful wedding day photos.

jg, that’s a great idea! I’m still thinking about wearing them, though. I actually think they work better with this hair’do, too.

Miss Dahlia says:

Miss Kiwi, I love the hair. But the thing that struck me when I saw your pictures is how much they seemed like you, even though I don’t really know you. I absolutely adore how well your glasses and hair work together to frame your face.

Whether you go glasses or no glasses, you will look beautiful. I just think that you look especially fabulous with your glasses.

I too, have hair envy. You look gorgeous!

Mrs. Onion says:

I think you have beautiful hair — I’d love to see the curls a little looser and longer myself. I feel like they are just too tight in the photos. That being said, I’m sure they’ll fall a little naturally, but I’d love to see what it looked like a few hours later.

I went back and forth about the glasses or no glasses debate and am really glad I didn’t wear mine. BUT I don’t wear contacts and my vision isn’t that bad. If everything was blurry I would have worn my glasses.

Miss Canary says:

Your hair just glows, Miss Kiwi! I agree with Mrs. Onion… softer curls will give you such a glamorous look.
