What they don’t mention is the extra cost of the security guards that will have to follow your girl around so she doesn’t get mugged.

Dang that’s a rock.

Mrs. Emerald says:

Hrmm, if I saw someone wearing that, I would think that it was a saphire or some other dark blue gemstone, but “oh, that must be a blue diamond” would not cross my mind… unless of course, like Angel says, the person was surrounded by body guards, hehe.

Wow…but as Mrs. E. says — it looks like a sapphire! I never understood that: what’s the point of getting one of those fancy colored diamonds when it just looks like a “cheaper” stone? (I personally love saph’s…they’re beeeutiful!) I mean, unless you’re going around telling people, oh, this is a pink diamond, not a — shoot, I forget what the pink ones are — how will anyone know? And if you ARE doing that, that’s kinda crass, no? =)

Mrs. Blueberry says:

I’ve seen some blue diamonds in person, and most of them didn’t look at all like sapphires. Sapphires (at least the ones we generally see) have a ‘true’ blue color, while in my experience, blue diamonds have a slightly greenish hint to the blue…they’re gorgeous!

Oh, and princesskittyHI–are you thinking of pink tourmaline?

Well, gee, thanks, Mrs. Blueberry — now I *want* a freakin’ blue diamond! =) LOL! Here I was convincing myself that a pretty sapphire was better ’cause it looks the same and costs less…poop!

Yeah, that’s probably it — pink tourmaline. I know it’s something that’s more like a birthstone, not a “real” gemstone.

Don’t get me wrong, I totally love those cute little colored gemstone rings (in fact, I WANT one of those eternity bands that mix the pink or blues w/ diamonds…), but I’d be totally happy w/ my “cheapie” stones vs. the colored diamonds! If I had $8 mill…I’d get a house! And some sparklies, of course. ‘Cause there’d still be SOME $$ left after the house…

Cute…but doesn’t look worth it. Maybe its just the picture but trust me even if it looked great in person I’d rather take the money….
