About Mrs. Jasmine

The Higher, The Better

October 15th, 2007 @ 8:29 am by Mrs. Jasmine

That’s my philosophy in life as it relates to shoes. At a mere 5’1, I refuse to resign myself to a life of staring at people’s belly-buttons. Instead, I’ve taken matters into my hands and embraced sky high heels.

My everyday work heels are 4 inches high. As Mr. Jasmine says, they are not stripper-high, but almost. That’s just how I like it! To me, there is no better feeling in the world than strutting around in a pair of really high heels. My back is straighter, my head is held high, there is an extra va-va-voom in my walk. The pain I feel from walking in a pair of modified stilts can’t compare to the fabulous confidence boost. When I wear my sky high heels, I can take on the world! Or at least Chicago.

So when it came to choosing my wedding shoes, I knew a 3 1/2 inch plus heel was necessary. I’m going to wait until I have my bridal outfits to decide on a pair, but I’m having a great time mulling over the options.

My dream pair (image courtesy of Neiman Marcus):

The Higher, The Better : wedding shoes Nmx040w

If I win the lottery between now and June (or Mr. Jasmine decides to surprise me!), these are mine for sure! Sex and the City trivia: these are the gold version of the silver Manolos Carrie lost in the episode “A Woman’s Right to Shoes”.

A few more “in my dreams” options:

Bejeweled Jimmy Choos. Image courtesy of Bluefly.

Some fabulous options that are more reasonably priced:

The Kate Spade Lola. So pretty and unique– it’s a shame the heel is too short! Image courtesy of Nordstrom.

Stuart Weitzman heels with a King Midas touch for $141. Image courtesy of Bluefly.

Saucy BCBG lace-up heels for $111. Image courtesy of Bluefly.

The Higher, The Better : wedding shoes Prodima05

Classic, classy Kenneth Cole for $111. Image courtesy of Bluefly.

Which one of these is your favorite? What do your wedding shoes look like?

I love high heels, but I am not so great when it comes to the over 3″ heel… I bought my shoes and I absoutely love them. But they are at least 3.5 inches high… I think I might have to gets some ballerinas for the party :D

But all your choses are so pretty!!!

I, personally, like the Stuart Weitzman’s. :)

I don’t consider myself *that* short at 5′4″, however, FI is 10″ taller than I am at 6′2″, so high heels are a must for me too.

I like the Kenneth Cole’s. Classic, elegant, and they’ll never go out of style. The laceups are a bit too trendy for me, and the ones with lots of rhinestones/beads make me worry that they’ll get caught on your skirt if you have petticoats made of tulle under your dress. Just a thought.

Oh, gorgeous! But my favorites are definitely the Jimmy Choos… :)

And this post reminds me — I have to post about my shoes, which I bought last weekend! They’re flats, thought…I’m 5′9″!

I love the Manolo Blahniks at the top! My amazing bridesmaids all pitched in and bought me that exact pair for my wedding last month. I was so in love I even had my dress hemmed up a half inch in front so the shoes peeked out when I walked…

They’re even more gorgeous in person, and confirmed my status as total shoe freak! Plus, a lot of people recognized them from the Sex and the City episode, so that was an easy way to describe to people over the phone.

Oh, the Manolos, for sure. I love peep toe anything and the detail on the vamp is to die for.

Oh a girl after my own heart! I love everyone of them… especially the Cavallis. I actually splurged and got a nice pair of shoes for the wedding as well. And I loved that you picked gold shoes (mine are too!) Can’t wait to see what you end up with. Fantastic taste, Miss J!

I am so sad reading this post. I am 5′8″ and FI is 5′9″ so I have to opt for shorter shoes or flats. Magnolia, post yours. I am desperate for some cute, dressy flats!

All of these, I love btw, the manolos would be on my feet right now if I wasn’t so tall and he wasn’t…ya know.

Between the blisters, the pressure on the balls of my feet, and the propensity to twist my ankle, high heels have always been just too uncomfortable for me to wear. Luckily, FI is only 3 inches taller than me, so now I have another reason to avoid anything over two inches. I was looking for 1 1/2 inch heels, but I had to settle on 2 inch. I’m even thinking of taking them to a cobbler to see if he can lower the heel a little bit.

That said, I think the Manolos and the strappy Jimmy Choo’s are very pretty - if only they came in a smaller heel!

I love Manolos and I have the silver version (Carrie’s stolen shoes), so I am totally biased.

Oh that is so NOT my philosophy when it comes to shoes. Mine is more like “Payless and flat is where its at.” Okay thats lame, but you get the idea.

You have fantastic taste in shoes I am so jealous. I am 6′1 (no shoes) and my fiance is 5′7 (with shoes). So needless to say LOVE the shoes you picked, but unless I am going for the Godzilla bride look probably wont work. I wear heals all the time normally, if you’re already tall what’s another inch or 3? :) however with the wedding pics I would like to look slightly normal. I am having the reverse problem (there are no cute shoes under a 2 inch heel :). So go for it girl and enjoy the shoes!!

Oh…I love the strappy Choo’s. Just what I’m looking for. I need shoes that match both my wedding dress and my cheongsam (i.e., gold),I was originally looking at getting a pair of Louboutin’s but I may just have to those Choo’s!

No matter what you are wearing, you can always feel great in a pair of fantastic heels!!

Wow, girl you have some awesome taste in shoes! Those are gorgeous. I love love LOVE Those Manolos, so pretty. Wish I had the budget for ‘em. I found some really pretty heels for about $80 though so I’m happy with the deal I scored.

I like the simplicity of the kenneth cole’s.

If anyone is a size 7.5 the first shoes you pictured are on ebay with starting bids at $20. http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-GORGEOUS-MANOLO-BLAHNIK-SATC-SEDARBY-HEELS-37-5_W0QQitemZ290170849908QQihZ019QQcategoryZ63889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Has good reader feedback but who knows.

I love your taste in shoes! Of course, the last time I wore heels, I almost broke my neck. I figure I better practice a lot before I wear heels with a lot of people watching me!

I am with you girl! My shoes are always 3 inches or higher, most likely four. I’m on a mission to find me some pretty Louboutins for my wedding, but I’d take those Manolos too! I own the 2nd Jimmy’s that you show there and they are so uncomfortable but SO pretty on. They are one of my favorites.
