The Excitement Builds

October 16th, 2007 @ 2:56 pm by Mrs. Penguin

Do you ever think back to before you were engaged and just think all this “wedding nonsense” was… well… nonsense?

Well, that was me, six months ago. All over the board. Garter toss? Lame. Bouquet toss? Lame. Color coordination? Lame. Cake cutting? Lame-O-Rama.

As the months have passed by, and the wedding creeps up, I’m slowly beginning to realize that I’m indeed excited for all these little “wedding traditions.” It all came to a head this weekend, when Ingrid Frazer, our cake baker, sent us over a sample of our wedding cake to try while visiting our reception site. She practically sent us the entire top tier of our cake! And you know what that meant… time to practice the cake cutting!

Some pictures are worth a thousand words, but these are worth only two: SHEER EXCITEMENT.

What small “wedding moments” are you most excited for?

You guys are too cute! I’m glad you got to practice cutting your cake because I cut ours (with Mr. Onions hands on mine, but I directed — per usual) and I got the smallest sadest little piece! And with all eyes on you, you can’t go back for more! Haha.

I’m excited (& nervous) about walking down the aisle, our first dance, and cutting the cake too! Hey, with 11 days to go, I’m excited about everything!

I went to interview a piano player yesterday and he played “here comes the bride” and it gave me chills! It meant so much more knowing that the bride will be me! Shopping for the dress and getting the venue was one thing but hearing that song gave me goose bumps! I’m so excited I’m going to burst and my wedding’s not going to be for another year!

We were so excited for our caricature artist. It was one of the things I really wanted our guests to enjoy. I told everybody about this artist and how cool he was and how I couldn’t wait for them to see. The most I got in return was a few polite comments. But I just knew they would have a blast with it. I had just had to wait until the wedding to prove it. Sure enough, it was a hit and everyone had a great time showing off their ‘faces’.

I also remember being excited to recite my vows. We put a lot of thought into the words, and I wanted to make sure I said them with the love and sincerity that was in my heart. I had flashbacks to my middle school play where I rushed and hushed my three lines. I wanted to make sure people knew how I felt and that I wasn’t just reciting my promises.

So adorable!

I don’t care if it’s melted… buttercream is pure bliss. :)
