Something Shiny

October 17th, 2007 @ 12:42 pm by Mrs. Canary

After yakking about the whole proposal, I thought I’d contribute a little bridal porn… I mean… bling to the mix. ;) This is the ring Mr. Canary picked out. No help from me or anyone else! I’m quite proud of him. :) It’s the perfect size and super radiant. It just shines!

Details: Ballerine Ring from Cartier, round cut diamond, and my favorite part, the beautiful art deco scroll on the side. {image from www.cartier.com}

Mr. C purchased the ring in Boston and said he had the best customer service experience there. We had a bit of a scuffle with the Manhasset, Long Island boutique when we went to get the ring resized. Pure snottiness, but in the end a call to the Manager of External Boutiques amended all that.

The ring in situ. ;)

Needless to say, I love my ring and I love that Mr. C knows me well enough to choose something that suits me so perfectly.
Did you help with the ring selection or was it a complete surprise?

My FI found it all on his own. Well, technically, he went into the store knowing what he was looking for… My dad helped him find the ring he already had in mind. Can’t say it’s a bad thing being from a family of jewelers. :)

We designed it together. I don’t wear any jewelry, so he didn’t know what to go off of. He started finding rings on-line and showing them to me, and then eventually just brought me to the jewler he had been working with, so we could custom design it from scratch.

My FI surprised me with an appt at a jewelers, we spent two hours discussing every cut, color, size, band, pave, eternity, etc and narrowed it down to what my dream ring would be. The proposal came 4 months later (I was dying wondering when!!) because he had my ring custom made to match (only bigger!) what I had decided on. :)

I recommend a session with a reputable jeweler, not only was it a lot of fun, it was very interesting and informative. I was fascinated, or maybe just blinded by all the bling.

Beautiful ring! I love Cartier and that ring is so elegant and lovely. I definitely helped with the ring selection– on one of our ring shopping expeditions, I narrowed down the rings I liked best and left it up to Mr. Jasmine to choose. He ended up choosing my favorite of the bunch: a round solitaire from Tiffany. He did well!

I picked out my setting and my FI picked out the diamond. I do love the whole idea of going in together and shopping for something that I know I’ll like. I wanted something different compared to traditional e-rings and funny that I saw my dream ring on a billboard and never knew the designer’s name until we went in to look at settings. Even though I knew what ring I was gonna get, I didn’t know when he would pop the question. I must admit being a girl who don’t like surprises, I was very touched when the proposal did happen out of the blue.

Beautiful ring!! I showed my FI all the different styles I liked and he got me Cartier’s 1895. I love the classic setting. My experience w/ Cartier at Short Hills has been pretty good. Each time I go there they always offer to clean my ring.

Your ring is beautiful. But I have to admit, I’m so glad to hear that someone else loves the design on the SIDE of their ring. That was the first specific thing I said about my ring. It was a complete surprise and he picked it out on his own. Its simple and perfect for us!

It has a great column/ribbon shaped angle coming off of the diamonds on the band. I thought that made it so special and I loved it.

Nice ring! I love the scrolls on the side.

I sort of had a hand in the selection. One day my SO, out of the blue, suggested going to a jewelers to look at engagement rings. At the store I picked out few rings that appealed to me so that he had an idea. For the proposal (which was months later) he surprised me with a ring that I had not picked out but instead incorporated the styles that had appealed me (antique-looking yet modern) but that he also liked too (since he was paying for it). I love my ring. Sometimes, he’ll catch me looking at it and smirk.

Beautiful! I LOVE Cartier! FI and I haven’t had time yet to go to a jewe;er together, but I did go in their on my own just to confirm what styles I like in picture match what I woul like on my finger. Even though the slaeslady knew I wasn’t buying that day, she was extremely helpful, let me try on rings, and sized me as well. In fact, they didn’t have the stone shape I wanted and she referred me to another jeweler (Nathan Alan). I would buy from them just for their customer service alone! :)

Beautiful! I tried on a different Cartier ring, but once I saw it on my hand, it just wasn’t my style after all.

I ended up choosing my ring myself. I’m sure I would have loved anything my fiance picked on his own, but things didn’t go exactly as planned!

mine was a complete surprise and he picked it out all on his own :) i love the ring you got and sometimes get wistful and want a ring with more to it (mine is a solitaire)..but when i actually saw a ring with “more to it” on my hand, i realized it’s just not my style (as much as i love them)..so the fiance really did know what he was doing :)

Can anyone tell me how much the cartier ballerine ring costs, I was looking at either 2 or 3 carats? I’m kind of new at this, but when i saw this ring, it just felt like it matched me. Thank you for your help.
