Mr. Kiwi and I had a big day yesterday! We both decided to take the day off, and get a bunch of wedding errands done. We woke up at 8am to get to Beverly Hills to get our marriage license. Besides another couple in front of us, we were the only people there. It was a lot less nerve-wracking than I thought it would be. On the advice of Mrs. Lemon, we filled out the application online, where they’ll hold it up to 15 days. I printed out a copy and showed it to the clerk in the office, we handed her our ids and promised that all the info was correct (to our knowledge). Application done!
Next, we went to the mall to pick up Mr. K’s contact lenses, unfortunately, it was a day that all his former students had off, as we ran into about 15 girls there- each of them asking why he wasn’t at school.
After a quick perusal in Things Remembered (still trying to find gifts for the moms), and a slice of pizza at Sbarro, we headed home to pick up some things we needed for our next appointment: the bank.
Thinking that we’ll need to get our bank accounts joined, we decided to ask the banker what they recommended we do. Since he was recently married, our banker told us that we should keep our personal checking/savings, and just add another checking and savings account- this one being joint. Since I know Mr. Kiwi’s totally paranoid about him buying me presents and me finding out about them, he wanted his own account to use for presents and goodies for himself. Per our marriage prep class, we have a small set amount we can spend without sharing it with the other, even though we most likely will share anyway.
So, we signed up for the joint accounts, the banker (Awesome John) taught us how to use the bill pay (since I’m the designated bill payer) function online, and gave us a wedding gift- a small yellow piggy bank with hibiscus flowers painted on it! Mr. Kiwi said that’s going to be our future child’s first bank, yeah… if I don’t use it first!
Next, I had my 4th dress fitting. Supposedly, the dress was ready to be tried on and taken home. Well, since we took the bust in a ton, the darts in the boob area make me look like I’m wearing the old school torpedo bras. It’s really not attractive. So, the dress is still there.
Oh well, at least everything else fit- even the length! Yay!
We were supposed to pick up Mr. Kiwi’s suit and choose a tie, but all of a sudden we heard his cell phone ringing. Where was it coming from? I have NO idea. We have turned the house upside down, called the phone (it rang in my phone, but we couldn’t hear it ringing anymore), and actually GONE THROUGH THE TRASH. Nothing. It’s absolutely missing. Since he refused to leave without finding the phone, we were unable to get his suit. Our house is now super clean, but we can’t find the stupid phone.
Finally, some grumpy news- I’m sick. I don’t know what I have, but I feel craptastic. My chest hurts, I’m shaky, I’m freezing despite the heat being on. I’m sniffling, and coughing and I am so mad at myself. I have a hot cup of tea, an Odwalla Citrus C Monster, a big jug of water and some emergen-c packets. I’m sad and sick. ![]()
I say bring the torpedo bra look back, and with a wedding dress no less! Do it!! Kidding of course, the visual was great. Thanks for a fun post
Hope you feel better quick!
