Grab A Discount

October 18th, 2007 @ 3:31 pm by Mrs. Penguin

The most valuable thing I’ve learned for shopping (in bulk) for my wedding is the power of the COUPON CODE. Most of you “shopping savvy” girls are probably already clued into these magical sites, but believe it or not, I knew nothing about them before I started shopping for my wedding. Don’t rely on a company’s website to clue you in to their latest sale. Often times the discounts are E-mailed to customers who’ve registered with them, but unless you like to have your Inbox clogged with bulk mail, heres a simple trick I’ve picked up from some resourceful brides. Simply Google “Coupon Code” along with the online retailer you’re purchasing from.

There are lots of websites dedicated to sharing with consumers the latest deals and steals available on the net. Here are a few of my favorites:

http://www.currentcodes.com/
http://www.couponchief.com/
http://www.retailmenot.com/

But really, there are dozens out there. My latest discount purchase came from:

http://pfaltzgraff.com/

(15% discount with a coupon code found online)

I bought 8 sets of these babies after learning that the tables at my venue seat six people, not the typical eight or ten. So I had to suppliment the 12 vases I had already bought with this beautiful candle set, and for $11 per trio it was a great buy!I can’t believe I’ve gone this far in life buying items online at full price. What a shame.

Whats your favorite source for coupon codes?

Great tip, Miss Penguin!

Every time I seen an option for “promo code” or “coupon” I start scouring the net for a code before buying!

Miss Canary– I totally do that too. Right before checkout, I see that blank promo code box and I go on a crusade to find some kind of coupon.

I love fishingfordeals.com. It’s a slightly different setup than the ones you’ve listed because it’s a message board, but the people there are so friendly and always willing to help you find a good deal on something.

I am also a crusader! I heart Naughty Codes as well, but there are sometimes good things on the forums at dealcatcher.com and bensbargains.net has some grrreat, albeit slightly techy, deals.

Thank you for that! I found the site: http://www.annsbridalbargains.com

Which (duh!) pointed out that if you do RSVP’s as a postcard, it saves postage. Nice!

What a great idea for a post! (And I looooove the candle holders.)

Looks like people have the coupon code sites fairly well covered. But I also love rebate-type sites, like http://www.LuckyMagRewards.com or http://www.UPromise.com. (The latter pays the money into your student loans or college savings.) There’s only a limited selection of stores, but you can get 3-10% of your purchase back using those sites. And coupon codes STILL work when you make your actual purchase! For sites with free shipping in particular, it’s a great way to save big on your shopping.

Thanks so much for sharing! I just saved $10 this morning on an order from Snapfish using these websites. Yay!

Ooh - some of my favorite coupon sites have been mentioned! I’ll add CouponHeaven.com to the list: http://www.couponheaven.com/

JMA19 mentioned Ann’s Bridal Bargains, and Coupon Heaven has an exclusive coupon code for them at: http://www.couponheaven.com/merchant.cfm/annsbridalbargains

Retailmenot may have more codes than NaughtCodes (or other coupon sites), but how many of them actually work? I haven’t had good luck with their site.

BTW - I love those candle holders!

I think RetailMeNot lets people submit deals they’ve found, but a lot of them have broken links or are expired.

It really sucks when you think you’ve found a great deal and it has a 2% success rate.

I use to get great exclusive deals. They update their coupons everyday, so I never get disappointed.

Oops, I’m apparently not so good at html, lol.

It was supposed to read, “I use FabulousSavings.com to get great exclusive deals.”
