Greetings from Miss Lovebird! Confused about the title of this post? That’s what the French call lovebirds! I can’t tell you all how excited I am to join the weddingbee hive! I’ve been reading weddingbee almost from its inception and many months before I even got engaged. Why did I choose to be Miss Lovebird you ask? I found out that lovebirds, when kept in pairs, will constantly groom each other and sit as close together as possible when sleeping. That’s what I do with Mr. Lovebird! Also, once a lovebird finds its “mate”, they mate for life and can sometimes be very territorial over those they care about. Mr. Lovebird thinks I’m that way with my friends and family and I don’t dispute it.
So a little about us… Mr. Lovebird and I met in 1996 during our freshman year at Stuyvesant High School in New York City. But, it wasn’t until our freshman year in college that we started dating. Then, we did the long-distance relationship for four years, him being at NYU and me being at Bryn Mawr in Pennslyviana. After graduating college, I came back to New York and went straight to law school. Mr. Lovebird proposed in Cancun last fall but the wedding planning was put on hold due to a family tragedy. I’ve since graduated and am now working as an associate at a T&E firm. Mr. Lovebird just started his first year in medical school, so you can say our lives are jammed packed right now!
We plan on getting legally married in New York at City Hall before the actual ceremony in front of our friends and family in Cancun. (That’s the lawyer side of me talking; I don’t want to have to go the Mexican Embassy each time I need a copy of my marriage license.) We are planning a symbolic gazebo/cliff-side ceremony in Cancun and a traditional Chinese ceremony and banquet in New York for those who can’t make it to Cancun.
This must be my lucky week because not only was I invited to join the weddingbee hive, but I literally just set the date for the Cancun wedding! You can say the wedding planning is in full swing now. I am also gocco’ing my wedding invitations like many weddingbee brides before me. This weekend, I’m meeting up with my super creative and talented bridesmaid Michelle to go over the invitation designs she made for me. Shout out to Mishi! I’ll let you guys know how it goes. I can’t wait to share my wedding planning experience with all you guys and I hope I can inspire you the way weddingbee has inspired me!
I leave you with some pics of me and Mr. Lovebird….

Can you see a theme here? These birds like to fly South! The turquoise water calls us.
Miss Lovebird out.
