The STD’s Are Done…

October 22nd, 2007 @ 3:28 pm by Mrs. Violet

Not for my wedding of course, but for a friend who asked for my help two weeks ago. (And here I thought I was done with wedding related stuff.)

After a few prototypes, we have the final Save the Date card/magnet. That’s right - it’s a card and it’s a magnet too! This was the first Save the Date project I did for someone other than myself. I think these came out great and she loved them too. :)

What did you use to make it a magnet?

jma19 - I used adhesive magnet strips and cut 1″ squares to all 4 corners. It sticks on the fridge really well.

Beautiful. But I must say the date panicked me … she’s sending out STDs for a wedding that’s over 12 months away?!?? Surely there must be some kind of unique circumstances, right? I won’t even be engaged for 12 months, let alone send out STDs that far in advance. I was thinking maybe 4 months … am I crazy??

wsukarebear - The font is called “Selfish” I love this font!

Shelby - Her wedding is very close to Thanksgiving so I’m assuming that’s her reason. If your wedding is not close to any holidays, you don’t need to worry, but I would suggest sending our your formal invitations at least 3 months in advance, and Std’s can be anywhere from 8 months and on.

Angel - I didn’t take step by step photos but in general, I took cardstock, patterned paper & another piece of white card stock and glued it all together into one final piece. Magnet squares were added to the back on all 4 corners. the StD wording was printed using the computer and the design was stamped by hand.

Mrs. Violet these are so beautiful!!! What do you mean the design was stamped by hand? Where could we get the stamp you used? (I’m assuming you used just a regular ink pad?)

Was the card stock already particular sizes, or did you cut them?

Also (sorry if it’s a bother dear) what kind of glue did you use?

You did a BEAUTIFUL job!!!!!

AutumnBride - Thank you!

I used stamps and a brown colored ink pad. Here’s a link to the stamps.

I used archival safe glue stick and yes, I used a paper trimmer to cut all the cardstock. It was labor intensive, but my friend/client loved it.. so in the end it was all worth it! =)
