Stamps: What’s Out There Now

I ran into the post office yesterday to get some stamps for my Save the Dates. I thought there would be a cute little display of all the stamps they have available, but there wasn’t. I panicked, then endured several eye rolls as I made the cashier pull out every 41cent stamp currently available.

Maybe your post office is nice enough to display what designs are currently available. Maybe not. CLICK HERE to see whats out there right now, so you don’t have to endure the dagger-eye fest I did.

Don’t see what you like? CLICK HERE to see what’s coming out in the near future.

The liberty bell stamp would be perfect for anyone planning a Philadelphia city theme for their wedding.

The flower stamps are really pretty. I bought them for my thank you cards and the colors are so vibrant. Plus, most of the flowers on the stamps are what I used in my wedding! I lucked out big time. They would be pretty for a spring wedding, maybe on STD’s?

We used the “Louis Comfort Tiffany” stamps (the blue/green ones that look like a forest scene) They went perfect with our colors!

I have a funny stamp story. My now husband and I had to mail out about 200 invitations. We picked the purple 41 cent heart stamp you have listed for the reply card, and needed a 58 cent stamp for all the outer envelopes. Our color scheme was pink and brown and I had printed all the addresses in brown ink. I was so happy that the 58 cent stamp was a pretty pink heart to match my brown ink. My job was to address the envelopes and stuff them all. My husbands job was to proofread them, seal them, and stamp the outer and inner envelopes. One night I had hammered out about 75 of these and then went to bed. The next morning my husband tells me he made a huge mistake and not to get mad. While he was proofreading and stamping later that night, he spaced out and put the 41 cent stamps on both the inner and outer envelopes. So we had no 41 cent stamps left and a whole bunch of my pretty pink 58 stamps. His solution was to just bring them to the post office the next day and see if they could just add the 17 cent postage to the outer envelope. Then, later on that day I asked him what the 17 stamp looked like that was added. Oh my gosh!!! It was a big, ugly, sheep head!! I long-horned sheep to be exact. Out of all the possibilities of things to put on a stamp, why a big sheep head?? I was horrified at first, but then I had to laugh. It actually was funny!! He still gets heat from everyone about that.

Ugh. I’m seriously not happy with the stamp selection…might have to consider making my own at Zazzle or something like that…

oooh I’m so tempted to use the Disney, Marvel and/or Star Wars stamps even though they have nothing to do with our wedding.

Thanks for posting this. I too made our local post office pull out every stamp. I like checking them out online too and ended up doing that for our thank yous.

I’ve been wondering if the past two years of postal change rates affected any brides…sheep’s head…now that’s a sense of humor.

I made my own stamps with our engagement picture on them at stamps.com. They turned out really cute and the stamp is larger then normal so yu can actually see your faces. It is a bit pricy, but I thought it was fun and very different. This is what I am using to mail the STD’s and a different engagement picture will be on the magnet.

Even if they show you everything that SHOULD be available at your local post office on USPS.com, that doesn’t mean that the local post office WILL have all that they have to offer via USPS.com! So you can shoot daggers right back at that nasty “customer service” rep that gave the stink eye to a blushing bride!

I bought my invite stamps via photostamp.com. I was able to upload a photo of me and my fiance (from the day he proposed to me, no less!), and everyone LOVED THEM! They cost a bit more than a standard stamp, but to me, it was well worth it.

I’m even nerdier. our invitations just went out with the 39 cent snowflakes (winter wedding) and a 2 center because I HATED all the christmas stamps this year. SWEATERS? really?

I love the Beautiful Blooms ones, and I think I will get those for any one oz. stamp we need (STDs, RSVPs and Thank Yous). But part of me is torn toward the super heroes or yoda ones! The polar lights and great smoky mountains are quite pretty, too.

Does anyone else think the Jury duty stamps are kind of funny-strange?
