A Bone To Pick

October 24th, 2007 @ 12:27 pm by Mrs. Canary

Mr. Canary and I are bickerers… not in a bad way… well it does get bad once in a while, but never bad enough that we can’t get over it.

We are both Type-As who have to be right. Perfect mix for a marriage, don’t you think? ;) But at the end of the day, we are tickled by what we argue over, usually meaningless stuff.

But lo and behold, I discovered the solution to our problems! Presenting Love Paper, Wish Paper, and Decision Paper. These are ingenious little notepads from Paradoxy Products. Hysterical and practical, you use them like a real wish bone (though I’ve never used one before). There are little slits in the middle of each sheet of paper and each party tugs at their end. The person with the bigger piece, wins. In an ideal world… I’d always end up with the bigger piece. Gosh, I love winning. ;)

How do you and your significant other resolve arguments?

It’s a work in progress! We have started a cranky jar. The idea is whenever one is cranky, crabby, snappy, etc. to the other they have to put a dollar into the cranky jar. While we won’t get rich or plan a trip to Europe on this fund, we’ll be more conscious of our moods to one another.

We don’t really argue unless it’s for fun, but for little things like who has to get up and turn off the light or whose turn it is to drive to the hockey game, we use good old rock, paper, scissors. It’s completely unbiased and entirely fun.

Hilarious idea– I love it! Mr. Jasmine and I are bickerers too. Luckily, neither of us can stay mad at the other person for too long, so our fights usually resolve themselves pretty quickly.

These would make adorable shower gifts! A great find.

We need this to decide ping-pong points! If it’s bad we call a ‘do-over’ truce - but my husband’s theory is that who ever scores the next point was the correct one in the argument :)

Unfortunately we are both A’s also. Somethings we just don’t do ‘together’. Like pack the car for a trip. Or strap the canoe to the top. Those are one man/woman jobs - if we want to keep the peace that is.

This looks like a fun (calm) way to resolve fights…I might have to look into this

This is so cute! Where can I buy them?

Annie: I just researched online and I couldn’t find a retailer… but I did find the info for the company that makes them.

Try emailing them at info@paradoxyproducts.com. They’re based in New York, so I plan on contacting them as well since I may get a few as gifts for the kids’ bags.

Hope that helps!
