A Spooky Surprise

October 25th, 2007 @ 3:48 pm by Mrs. Hummingbird

Because I’ve been sick this week, I haven’t had a chance to write about this yet, but I just wanted to congratulate some friends of ours, Kim and Alex who got engaged over the weekend at Toronto’s Zombie Walk!

For those of you unfamiliar with the custom, for the past five years in Toronto, fans of horror movies/dressing up gather together at a local park and then proceed to walk . . . er . . . shuffle through the downtown core dressed as ghouls until they reach the Bloor Cinema where the After Dark Film Festival, which screens independent horror flicks, takes place. This year was especially cool because Zombie Jesus, a movie our friend Kim worked on, was screening as part of the festival so, to show our support, we all got decked out as zombies and did the big walk up to the Bloor together.

Unfortunately, since I wasn’t feeling so hot, we left the festivities early and ended up missing all the commotion as Kim’s boyfriend Alex popped the question while they were in line at the theatre!

As major filmmaking folks (seven months into their relationship, they collaborated on a hitchhiking documentary) and as major horror fans, the unconventional proposal was incredibly sweet and completely their style.

Congrats again guys! We couldn’t be happier for you!

A picture of the adorable Zombie pair taken mid-proposal by a friend. Even covered in gore, they’re adorable.

Is that a heart in his hand? That is so sweet in a weird horror sort of way.

If you squint it looks like they had a lot of fun with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Which is what I have to imagine since zombies give me the creeps. :)

That is pretty cool though how they made it very them. Tell them congratulations for me!
