Linens (And Things)

October 25th, 2007 @ 3:18 pm by Ms. Dahlia

Earlier, I discussed the overall vision/feel we have for the reception, and three things we are looking for: linens, flowers and lighting. Today, I bring you one element- linens.

Here is our inspiration for the tables.

From the Knot.

From New York Magazine.
I know, it’s chocolate brown, but it looks like it could be burgundy.

From Grace Ormonde Style.

I have no idea where I got this picture.

I have no idea where this came from.

We are planning on splurging (a bit) on burgundy linens. White, chair length linens are included in the package, and I (we) really like the look of floor length linens. One place I’ve looked at is BBJ. I contacted them for their pricelist, and floor length tablecloths of the basic polyester variety are $13 for 120″ rounds (for the 60″ round tables), including shipping and handling. While more expensive linens can be nicer looking, the reason for renting linens is for color, and there is a perfectly lovely shade of burgundy available in the lowest price. For $260, colored tablecloths will make a bigger impact than 2 tall centerpieces will.

Locally, I have found Lasting Impressions Event Rentals, which has the same tablecloths for $16. They also do lighting, and I am awaiting an email from them with their lighting prices and packages. A little bit more money, but the advantage is that someone else would deal with setup and delivery. Our reception venue also has them available for $18, which has the added convenience that we would not have to coordinate with another vendor.

Or we could go through whichever florist we choose, which would be at $25/table.

Who else is renting linens? Do you have any tips or suggestions? Would you recommend saving money by doing it online, or is it worth it to pay more to have someone else take care of it all?

Oooh, I loove the burgundy and your overall color scheme. It’s so dramatic, I especially love the 1st two photos.

I was thinking about renting our linens as well but now I am looking into purchasing them on ebay or Craigslist from previous events. Hopefully I will be able to find them for around the price of renting them and then reselling it after the wedding. Good luck with your search.

I’ve rented from BBJ and they’re reliable and professional. You can find other companies online that are cheaper, depending on what you’re looking for.

Ultimately I would suggest that you rent through someone else for your own wedding day. You don’t want to deal with tablecloths that have food remnants while also making sure you have all of them, and that they’re all back in time. And they can be really heavy and bulky! I think it’s worth a little extra money to have someone else deal with delivery, set-up and clean-up.

We’re getting married near Columbus, OH and are using O’Neil’s tents and party supplies in Canal Winchester for chivari chairs and possibly linens (if budget allows). I found them to be a cheaper alternative to Lasting Impressions.

We are renting linens through our caterer. We thought about trying to find them through another vendor on our own, but realized that it would just be so much more convenient to have our caterer deal with it. He has a good relationship with his linen company, so if something were to go wrong with sizing or amounts, he would be able to fix it much more easily than we could. Plus, we don’t have to worry about picking up or returning them.

ColorTone is the company Lasting Impressions works with for lighting…I’m almost sure. Todd with ColorTone was fast at getting me a quote for lighting but it was very high. Much higher than what I was quoted by the larger (and more established) company Hughies. http://www.hughies.com.
I’d be interested to hear if it ColorTone and what they quote you.
Didn’t know Lasting Impressions had an “in-house” lighting designer…

I love the texture of the last one, but I’d combine it with white plates for contrast. That table setting makes me want to throw a party!

Our caterer gets them through L’Nique. It’s a funny name but they are very popular in these parts and they have a very wide variety of linens to choose from. http://www.lnique.com/

I love the first picture, with the mix of square and round tables. I am also having burgundy table clothes. I lucked out, my venue had 3 different colors of table linens to choose from: white, green or burgundy. And since my wedding colors are burgundy it was the perfect match. I can’t wait to see how you decorate your tables!

I rented from BBJ Linens. They shipped them directly to my reception site, who received them, set them up, then took them down and shipped them back. It was so easy, I didn’t have to do a thing but place the order. The linens were exactly what I had envisioned. I recommend talking to your site coordinator to see if they will handle the linen shipment for you.
