30’s Inspired

October 29th, 2007 @ 12:31 pm by Miss Flamingo

After setting the date, it was time to decide on a theme. Even though themes aren’t necessary, I knew I wanted one for my wedding. This was one part of the wedding that wasn’t really hard to figure out. Being a fan of anything glamour, I thought it would be a neat to incorporate it in my wedding.

Mr. Flamingo left me with majority of the decision making, and I basically had carte-blanche. So my ideas started flowing. I wanted a modern glamour wedding, so that meant pearls, chandeliers, golds, pinks and champagnes.

After our official countdown began, my sweetie started to show interest in the planning. I was really happy about this, because not many guys (I know) take part of the planning. As time passed, I realized that the glamour part of our theme was more me than him, and we needed to find something that suited the both of us! It finally came to me at 2 o’clock in the morning on a weekday. Mr. Flamingo is a fan of anything movies, so we decided to combine the two.

Our revised theme will focus on glamorous movies from the 30’s - 50’s. I designed an inspiration board which was featured on Style Me Pretty. Watch out Oscars, our wedding will be the main event.

Fabulous! I love this whole concept and I can’t wait to see how you execute it. The manzanita branches with crystals hanging from them– gorgeous!

Thanks everyone… Can’t wait to talk about it some more.

Miss Jasmine: I’m really worried about the centerpieces. I love them, but M. Flamingo is afraid it will not look very pretty. I have to make a trial first…

Miss Petunia: Im not sure if I understand your question, sorry. All the inspirations boards were posted here:

My inspiration board was featured on their, and I won. I was really exstatic. I might do another one, mid-way (cuz obviously things change) and one after… so that we can all compare them. ;)

Angel: Old fashion champagne glasses??? What do you mean by that… are you talking about the ones that are very triangular or the really open mouths??? Any pics

Prior to the thirties, a ‘coupe’ or bowl style champagne glass was used. Sometime during that decade though, the flute was introduced. It allows the fizz to stay with the beverage longer since the surface area is reduced.

Anyway, I guess you could use either one since they were both in use during the 30’s, but the coupe style looks so vintage.

Hope that helps!
