About Mrs. Canary

Genius!

October 29th, 2007 @ 5:44 pm by Mrs. Canary

I’m sure many of you are already DailyCandy fiends (if you aren’t, you have to sign up!).

I just discovered the link to Jack Cards in my Inbox this morning. What a genius idea! It’s a free membership site where you can save important dates like birthdays and anniversaries of your friends and family… and the coolest part? They’ll send you reminders near the time of the event/milestone. You can even select a card from their menu and they’ll address, stamp, and mail it for you. Amazing!

I love buying cards, but often forget to mail them in time. This would be perfect. :) They also have a huge selection of cards arranged by occasion from some of my favorite print shops.

There is another great site, http://www.birthdayalarm.com, that does a similar thing. I don’t think they mail hard copy cards for you but you can send e-cards. I just use it as a reminder so I can call or send a card myself. Great help.

I painstakingly researched every birthday of my guy’s family, but do I remember to do anything about it? Ack! (I too buy cards and forget them. :( )

This sounds like a great way to avoid that. Thanks for sharing!

I adore Jack Cards! It’s a great idea for the ultra busy gal (or guy) and it’s like having your own assistant.

I didn’t know about Daily Candy, but thanks for the link!

Heh heh heh, love that first one that says “It’s about freakin’ time!” That’s exactly what my grandmother said to us when we first told her we were getting married.

Thanks so much for the mention wedding bee! Just to let you know Jack Cards actually mails the cards to our members for them to either mail after scribbling a message or hand deliver them in person. We really love paper greeting cards and the concept is all about Jack Cards doing the difficult, time consuming parts (remembering dates, keeping address, sticking stamps) and our members taking time the time to write a thoughtful message.

I do the reminder with Google Calendar. But this is great - it’s a good substitution for my BlueMounatin membership!

Here’s another similar service with a few more options: http://www.greetq.com. You choose cards online, type in a personal note, choose a date and they’ll send them out for you on that date. You can choose from several different fonts or have them handwritten for you. GreetQ saves you card ’send dates’ in an online Queue, (kind of like Netflix) so you can manage your card-giving calendar for the whole year. They also have a free reminder service so you won’t forget a b-day or something. You never have to go to the post office! You can do it once a year entering all your dates or several times; the important thing is that you don’t have to remember.
