I’ve loved Jim Hjelm dresses from the moment I picked up my first bridal magazine. I knew I wanted to try their designs on first, and I instantly fell in love with the one I ended up purchasing. It pretty much embodies everything I’ve wanted in a gown. Interesting neckline, sleek design, and a nice mix between traditional and modern. Here it is on the (entirely too perfect) model:
There were so many Jim Hjelm dresses that I loved in the current and all the past collections, that I knew I had to shop at a store that carried their line. Best of all, I knew that even their priciest dresses were in my price range, so I wouldn’t have to go through the agony of finding that “perfect” dress and finding out that it busted my budget. Jim Hjelm does a great job with mixing fabrics, so if you like a little lace or a little tulle, you can get it without being overwhelmed by one fabric.

The designers pay as close attention to the back of the dress as to the front. I’m not a huge fan of buttons or visible zipper seams, so I really appreciate side zip gowns and well hidden zips and clasps.

Here are some details from their newest Fall 2008 Collection:

Do/did you have designer lust? Did you end up purchasing a gown from their collection?

Monique Lhuillier. LOVE HER.
I’d love to wear her, but she’s a little (a lot!) out of my price range. It doesn’t stop me from pining over her designs.
