Remember a while back I posted about a fight that almost went down between the Mr. and I regarding seeing each other before or during the ceremony? In the end, logistics won and we saw each other beforehand. We both thought that it was the best decision we made. Not only did it ease our nervousness a bit, we also had enough time to take all the pictures we needed and enjoy time alone & with our guests during cocktail hour.
The reveal… I know I look completely blissful and full of smiles, but I have to tell you that I almost had a minor incident. Right before stepping up to tap on Mr. Violet’s shoulders, my heel got stuck. It must have only happened for a few seconds but it felt like forever and I’m suprised the photos didn’t show my nervousness one bit. *See picture a few shots down for reference of bridge.

The Ceremony Begins..
Both my parents started crying before we made our grand entrance. It was sweet, that is until, they both started stepping on my gown… the whole way down! I kept my smile though and prayed that my dress stayed on. A naked bride is not how I’d like to have been remembered on this day.
I think my dad was supposed to lift my veil, kiss me then put it back down, but there was a bit of confusion, so Mr. Violet did it instead.
My family are not emotional people, especially my dad. This was the first time (that I can recall) my dad kissed me on my cheek.
It was a very odd yet sentimental moment as they gave their eldest daughter away.
A reading by my BM to “A Key to Love”
I don’t know why we’re so far apart! We were both too shy to say our own vows but when it came time to saying our I do’s, Mr. Violet’s answer was “Of course!” It got a few chuckles from the audience. I wasn’t so suprised. Typical Mr. Violet!
The Kiss - I know it sounds silly but we actually talked about how we were going to kiss. I come from a very traditional Chinese family - in the 8 years that I’ve dated Mr. Violet, I wouldn’t even hold hands with him when we were with family. So that kiss may not seem like much, but it was the most I was willing to do. We’re just not the kind of couple that enjoys displaying our love in public.
Can you see the sigh of relief in my face? Mr. Violet looks even more nervous..
The ceremony was small, cozy and the setting was amazing. Exactly the kind of wedding I wanted. Peacocks were roaming around the grounds and our guests thought it was so cool!
Notice how serious our bridal party looked and how happy they were after!
My MoH & 2 Best Men!
A final shot of the beautiful ceremony.
Immediately after the ceremony, we were whisked away to a secluded area while our guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the garden. We were only a few feet away but it felt like we were in a hideway. My bridal attendant came over with two huge platters of food and we enjoyed the first few moments as husband and wife. It was a great feeling. Pastor April came over to get us to sign our marriage certificate and soon after we joined the last half hour of cocktails.
