Cleaning Up.

November 3rd, 2007 @ 2:28 pm by Mrs. Gummi Bear

So, the day came and went, but somehow, a lot of our stuff… didn’t. Spread between my parents’ home, his parents’ home, and our place is a ridiculous amount of items. Some of the items I can see myself keeping, we set aside the board games, about 6 seat cushions, and all the Ann Wood birds that were not given to our helpers. My sister suggests putting everything together and ebaying it as a pre-made wedding, ha!

But what do I do with 800 cello bags and 400 glassine bags? I can’t feel good throwing them out - but are they worth putting on ebay? Does anyone have any really cute ideas for Christmas that involves 94819032190 mushroom birds and a lot of cello wrap? Something beyond using them to make the world’s crappiest xmas gift (mushroom birds surrounded by cello and stuffed into a glassine bag!) or the trash?

I’m off to put the Ann Wood birds all around the house. Any cute location recommendations that doesn’t involve them falling/getting soiled/turning into spider-lairs? I need something to distract me for the long few weeks of waiting for more photos ahead!

It's lovely

I would definitely keep the birds. They’re too adorable to give away or to sell. ; ) How cute they would be maybe on a holiday tree as ornaments or displayed as a collection in a cabinet with a few other wedding momentos.
PS I Loved your wedding. So original and charming!!

If you had any sort of chandelier (electrical or candle) they would look adorable perched all over it with some decorative greenery. I think IKEA probably sells candle chandeliers for less than $40.

And you could put those bags on ebay with the tag “WEDDING BUFFET” and I’m sure brides will snatch them up.

my first thought was christmas tree ornaments! perhaps you could give the bags away to one lucky bee reader still in the planning stages? have girls comment about what they’d do with them and pick someone at random? just an idea.

Oh wow, I’m in the process of looking for 370 glassine bags. Please contact me if you’re planning on selling them. I’m in the SF area. Thanks!

I agree with Mrs. Onion, what about using them as Christmas tree ornaments? It was the first thing that came to mind.

Or, you could make/put them on wreaths? That might be a cute gift idea?

You could also put them on a mantle if you have one.

if you don’t mind parting with your birds… you could put them on your holiday gifts as decoration.

1st thought in my mind was also using the birds for decoratiing a rustic (Anthropologie-style) Xmas stree. They would just look sooo adorable, perched all over a tree! And I think the bags would find themselves quickly snatched up on ebay!

Why don’t you post them on the Weddingbee classifieds instead of e-bay?

with your adorable birds you could put them out every springtime– how cute your home would look with those adorable ann wood birds everywhere! and just think how excited you’d get every springtime knowing the memories you be putting around your home.

you could also turn a few token ones into christmas ornaments so you have some wedding memories to bring out every holiday season too.

have you thought about saving them and passing them down to your children as christmas ornaments? that would be cute too– and a great start to their christmas ornament collection!

Haha looks like you won’t have a problem selling those bags after all. But in the event you really can’t get rid of them, you could probably make treats (I did chocolate covered pretzels last year!) to put into bags and pass them out to friends/family/coworkers/neighbors.

I’m donating some of my wedding items, including stamped & waxed favor bags (they have a bird design, no text), to SCRAP in San Francisco. Many teachers shop for school supplies there as well as crafties and creatives! They would definitely welcome your stuff! To see what they accept, go to http://www.scrap-sf.org/
