NY Bee Get Together

November 4th, 2007 @ 5:23 pm by Mrs. Snow Pea

Here are some more photos of the bee meet up in NYC. It was a freezing cold day which was perfect for some good soup. Mr. Snow Pea and I had a great time and although some of us have never met, it feels like we know all about one another already. It was hard calling one another by our real names since we’re so used to referring to one another by our icons. It was also delightful to meet all the Mr. Bees and hear what they thought of our “other life” in the blogging world.

The food is good. Some commented that it was a bit salty. (There’s also a $10 minimum/person). They had really good espresso.

Several were made using a chocolate macaron recipe and most were from a basic macaron recipe, the filling was a dark chocolate ganache. I was so upset with Mr. BP because he ate all the 3 lb chocolate bars in our refrigerator. It was a pain to unwrap Hershey kisses individually to create the ganache.

The crepes at the restaurant looked so delicious, we’ll definitely come back to try to quiche and the savory crepes. :)

Now that’s commitment when you unwrap individual hershey kisses!

Mrs. Bell Pepper, how many 3 lb chocolate bars did he eat? That sounds like something my FI would do.

Mmm Mrs. Onion, I just saw a recipe today for grilled eggplant and goat cheese. It’s making me hungry now.

Mrs. Bee’s soup did look good! It was even better apparently with Tabasco! ;)

Mrs. Bellpepper’s macaroons were the highlight of the meal!

Aww thanks Mrs Violet,

They weren’t my best batch. I think my kitchen was too cold and they just didn’t bake up right. Maybe next time I see you, I’ll bring you some more! I forgot to compliment Mr. Violet in person on his baking skills for you!

Joyful2,

Mr. BP loves swiss chocolate which is great for baking, so I had about… 3-4 3lb chocolate bars sitting the fridge. He has this terrible habit of leaving the empty wrappers in the fridge so I didn’t know we ran out until I made the macarons. Luckily we had a lot of halloween candy left and I decided to use the hershey kisses instead.

He knows that empty wrappers/bags of chips are my biggest pet peeve so sometimes he’ll leave one last potato chip from a 2 lb bag. Or the last tapioca ball in my bubble tea. :)

Hi, here’s a good recipe:

http://www.cocoandme.com/2007/03/29/parisien-macarons-with-tried-recipe-process-photos/

It’s kind of tricky making them because the batter has to be just right, not too runny and not too stiff. No matter how they turn out, they usually taste delicious.
