After seeing Miss Petunia’s finds at Regina B, I immediately made an appointment to check it out. I surfed the site first, but it’s just a small percentage of what they carry in the store. I was mainly searching for earrings. My wedding dress will have a brooch, so I didn’t want too much jewelery clashing and my other dresses don’t have necklines that would accommodate necklaces either.
Here are some of my favorites from the site:

I tried on a few items at Regina B that I liked. They’re all so beautiful! And the salesgirls are all so sweet and helpful, but my MOH was with me as well, and could tell I wasn’t crazy about anything in particular. Don’t get me wrong, I love earrings and especially chandelier and dangly ones, but the ones I go for are usually very minimalist, even if they are large.
The Regina B earrings were very glamorous and elegant… but just not “me” enough. So I decided to search another one of my favorite shops, Alexis Bittar. Like Regina B, the site does not showcase all the shop has to offer. (I think with the everchanging inventory, it’s hard for jewelers to keep their sites up to date!) In a previous post, I talked about discovering Alexis Bittar pieces at MoMA, but it wasn’t until I visited the flagship shop that I fell in love… with everything!
His classic line is the Lucite collection. I love the way lucite catches light and manipulates color. I actually wanted one of his lucite flower brooches for my dress, but they were way out of range. But the earrings were definitely within my budget.
I tried on about 15 pieces and fell hard for these long draped freshwater pearl earrings from Alexis Bittar’s Elements line. They were the perfect combination of modernism, flair, and elegance. And I would definitely wear these again after the wedding.
The following weekend, I was out with my MOH. We were shopping at the MoMA Design store and I found another pair of Alexis Bittars that would go perfectly with my reception dress. With a generous discount from MOH, they were very affordable, so I purchased them as well. I loved the edginess of these as my reception dress is also a huge contrast to my wedding dress.

Alexis Bittar earrings average from $70-200, but they are truly original pieces that I know I will wear over and over again after the wedding. Both pairs I bought are not on the site, but are definitely in the Soho store(465 Broome Street) or at the MoMA Design Store ( 81 Spring Street OR 44 West 53 Street).
Another wonderful local New York designer, Wendy Mink, just relocated to a new shop in the Lower East Side. This is such a fabulous store! There’s so much more than jewelry for sale… paintings by local artists, baby onesies, and even handmade notecards. I went to Wendy’s shop after I bought my Alexis Bittar pieces, so there was no turning back… but Wendy’s jewelery would be perfect for non-traditional wedding bling as well. She also customizes any order and will do it fairly quickly (within 1 week) and the staff at the shop is nothing short of amazing. All her pieces are very reasonably priced too.
