Bridal Shower

November 5th, 2007 @ 4:55 pm by Mrs. Licorice

I wanted to share a little bit about my bridal shower. It was held at my aunt’s house and was thrown my by best friend/sorority sister/bridesmaid. Naturally, it featured some good ol’ southern food: pimento cheese sandwiches!

The hostess and my best friend :)

The most wonderful and touching part of the day can be summed up in this little booklet:

Each guest was asked to fill out their respective page. The forms included their hope for me, their advice, and their best memory of me. Some of my friends’ answers suprised me (in a good way!), and the booklet is by far my favorite gift from my shower.

I know a lot of women check this blog for bridal shower suggestions. Let’s help them out! Post the best idea you’ve ever seen or executed yourself!

Your shower looks like it was a great time! Two of my close friends threw me a shower, and my favorite aspect of it was a “quiz” they created and asked my fiance to answer prior to the shower. It included questions like, “when did you know you were in love with her,” “where did you first kiss,” “what’s your favorite quirk about her,” and “what do you love most about her.” They then read the questions out loud during my shower and i had to answer them. It was a blast, and the answers my husband gave were soooo sweet. Everyone at the shower oohed and aahed, wished their husbands were like mine, and were completely turned to mush. :)

awww that is such a sweet gift!
as for bridal shower ideas, my friend’s sister threw her a stock the bar/dresser party, where, in addition to shower gifts, the ladies brought lingerie for the new couple and the men brought all the alkie, both for the party and for gifts…

My friends threw me a shower with a very mixed family/friends group. They asked guests to sign their card with a memory of me, rather than their name. I read each one aloud and it gave me an opportunity to talk about how I was connected to each person.

a: gee, thanks! I’m blushing…

I typically use a gentle cleanser. Right now it’s a mousse cleanser from Lancome. I don’t always use toner, only sometimes. And I’ve been using Olay complete since I was 13. An oldie, but a goodie! I really don’t wear foundation most days, just liquid concealer for the undereyes (I’m a sleep-deprived student!), but my friends just introduced me to bare minerals. It’s fantantastic and perfect for someone who loathes heavy make-up like me! Oh, I usually wear a cream blush. I swear it makes a big difference!
