Registry Completion

November 5th, 2007 @ 6:11 pm by Mrs. Onion

On Saturday after the great bee meet-up, Mr. Onion and I went to the Crate and Barrel on Madison Avenue and 60th Street to complete our registry. Crate and Barrel offers a 10% discount after your wedding on the items left on your registry. Tips below — keep reading!

Registry Completion : wedding new york post wedding registry Allclad Onion

Registry Completion : wedding new york post wedding registry Kitadin1

Registry Completion : wedding new york post wedding registry Thompso

Above are the items we decided to buy — All Clad Stainless Steel 14 piece set (we LOVE to cook and this is something we’ll have for a lifetime — in fact, it has a lifetime guarantee), our dishes — Kita Dinnerware, and our silverware — Thompson Place Settings.

I wanted to highlight a few things that weren’t clear to us and hope it saves you time, trouble and money!

1) The 10% discount can be used twice — once on-line and once in stores.

2) If you decide to use your 10% discount in the store you have to have the completion card they mail to you after your event.

We had our gifts shipped to my parents house because we don’t have a doorman and we thought this would be safer/easier. So, the completion form was apparently mailed to them and we had no idea. If you do not have this form with you, you cannot receive your 10% discount!!

3) Even though there are a ton of items on the website that say “free shipping” (pretty much everything except furniture), that apparently doesn’t apply to registry completion. So it works out that the 10% you “save” goes right back to paying for shipping your order. Serious bummer!

4) If the item is not on your registry you do not get the 10% discount. However, you can put anything on your registry after your event before you decide to make your one time purchase and the 10% will apply.

5) Your 10% discount is only good for 6 months after your wedding so make sure to take advantage of it before the clock runs out.

Learn more about Crate and Barrel’s gift registry HERE. I’d recommend you call customer service if you have any questions before you register so you’re not surprised after your wedding. We had some issues but the customer service representatives were very helpful and came up with a happy solution to our problems.

I could probably find this out on their site, but I’m lazy.

How do you claim your 10% online? The coupon thingie I got sent after our wedding says it’s for in-store and by-phone purchases. But I got a letter last week saying that the 10% is good online and I’d better hurry and freakin’ use it ’cause my 6 mo. limit is coming up. It promised a coupon was being sent, but alas, no coupon yet, and I need to make my purchase in the next couple weeks.

PS - Thanks for the advice on the 10% only being good on stuff already in your registry!

Great tips! I drove 2 hours to the only C&B in Oregon and didn’t have my discount form! SO annoying. I also thought it was a pain that you have to add items to your registry just to buy them, like, 10 minutes later.

TIP: The seasonal goods (linens, candle holders, even some furniture) often times are not around when you go to complete your registry. I missed out on a bunch of cute things that I didn’t get as presents and weren’t in stock anymore.

princesskittyHI - you don’t need a coupon code — you just sign into your registry and click “complete registry now.” the 10% is applied at check out.

M — SO sorry your drove 2 hours to have to leave empty handed! that sucks.

Hi - i went to CB empty handed too, but the were having a great customer service day. I was about to use my registry discount to buy a china cabinet and didnt have my complete card. They looked up my registry and completion code for me while i was in the store and I left with a china cabinet. I went in to do this about 2 weeks after the wedding and don’t think I even received the card yet so maybe that was why they were accomodating, but it doesn’t hurt to ask!
