Favor Idea: Tiny Gifts!

November 6th, 2007 @ 5:51 pm by Mrs. Lily

I was flipping through the newest Crate and Barrel catalog and found these cute ornaments in the shape of present boxes that open up. I thought they would make adorable favors, especially for a December wedding. You could even put a little hershey’s kiss with a thank you note inside!

Hey cool! I actually used these for our July 2005 wedding. I saw them in a jewellry store and just had to have one, but the store wouldn’t give away or sell them. They did tell us that we could find them online and after some searching, my guy purchased one from Crate and Barrel. He used it to propose to me (hanging on our Christmas tree with a cute little note that said “turn around”), so we thought it would be cool to incorporate that into our wedding. The boxes came up in the Love Story we filmed and you should have heard the gasps/awwws around the room as everyone realized that it was the same ornament he proposed with.

What we did: they come in quantities of four if you order a small quanitity or individual plastic containers if you order a large amount. We ordered around 30 for our 65 guest reception. A lot of our guests were couples, so we gave one per couple and filled them with mint chocolate frangos and Andes mints. Yummy! I cut the cheap looking string that came with and threaded a piece of round ribbon though the hole in the top (instead of one of the loops like the picture). We attached a tag with the couples name on one side and an Irish blessing and our date on the other (nevermind that we aren’t Irish). Oh, and made a few extra “For our guests” in case anyone showed up who didn’t RSVP.

They were a hit and we still see them at other people’s homes more than two years later.
