Is That Really Me?

November 6th, 2007 @ 3:41 pm by Mrs. Peony

Last night I had my hair & makeup trial with the Pedala sisters: Maureen (hair) and Claudia (makeup). I had written earlier that unlike many brides these days, I’m not going for the natural look on my wedding day. I want to look extra glam and extra fabulous.

Maureen and Claudia delivered. And much more.

What first struck me as I met them was just how down-to-earth and friendly they were (not to mention, Claudia has the cutest little yorkie Is That Really Me? : wedding hair makeup new york Winky043 winky043 ). Unlike my previous trials, they spent a full ten minutes just talking to me first to get an idea of what my wedding dress looks like, how I envision the big day, and what kind of look I was going for.

I admit it - I was a bad bride. Is That Really Me? : wedding hair makeup new york Sad024 sad024 I didn’t bring any pictures of my dress, hair and makeup I liked, etc. I knew that I wanted my hair down in loose curls…. perhaps a crystal headband or a small tiara. Bridal experts tell you that you should bring your veil and accessories to your hair trial, but I haven’t decided on either. As for makeup, I usually look very washed out in photos so I wanted stronger shades. I have small eyes and thin lips so I basically asked Maureen to do anything she can to make them look larger and fuller.

Maureen took some “before” pictures and they began working right away. The trial only took an hour because we didn’t experiment with different looks - I liked the first version that much.

I had been anxiously awaiting the pictures that Maureen took last night, and I just received them!

Can you believe the difference between the before and after?!?

Some detail shots of my hair. Claudia added some extensions here and there to give my hair more length and volume. She promised me that it’ll look even better on my wedding day, because she’ll have time to set my hair beforehand (this usually takes 45mins to an hour so we didn’t do it for the trial). They lent me the headband and veil so that I can see how the full package will look.

Maureen and Claudia’s fees are on the high end, but I really think they’re worth it. Their trial was completely free - they wouldn’t even accept a tip!

I have one more trial next week, but I really think I may have found my hair & makeup artists! Is That Really Me? : wedding hair makeup new york Laughin069 laughin069

I personally thin you’re gorgeous before and after! Not hard to ‘create’ a pretty face when it’s already there!

Thank you so much everyone! I’m sooo happy this trial turned out well especially after my first two were disasters.

Jayma - that is what attracted me to Maureen in the first place! She has a talent for making eyes really pop, and that’s what I wanted.

Mrs Caramel - thank you about the hair color! It’s actually my natural color….I haven’t touched dye/bleach in years. I was very pleasantly surprised when the last time I was at a Korean hair salon, the stylist asked me what color dye I use because this color is all the rage in Korea right now! I guess I got extremely lucky in this respect. :-)
