When my photographers told me all their packages were “Green,” I must admit, I was a little confused. After a little research and emails back and forth, I think I finally figured it out.

Photographers who offer “Green” packages mean they only shoot digital photographs, thereby eliminating the need for film and the harmful chemicals used to develop film. It can also mean that they don’t offer printed proofs. Instead, the photographers would give you high resolution images on a digital medium so you can print, on your own, the images you actually want; thereby eliminating the use of extra paper and chemicals used to print pictures you aren’t too fond of in the first place. At first, I found it a little strange that I won’t be getting any actual prints, but overall, the concept makes sense and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I encourage other brides out there to look into the possibility of going “green” in regards to their photography. Instead of having them print you hundreds of images on paper (some images you might not even want), maybe you can try to negotiate a discount towards getting an album of your favorite images instead. Every little bit helps!
