Hi Miss Jasmine-

I too am of Indian heritage. My Fiancé and I are planning to get married next year. Question, have you started shopping for wedding invitations? To appease our parents we’ve opt to do the traditional Indian invite. Are you doing the traditional Indian invite as well? If so, have you come across any good sites that are worthy of a recommendation.

MS: We’re doing a semi-traditional Indian invite. I wanted something that paid homage to our Indian heritage while very contemporary and modern. We opted to have Saima Khan of Saima Says Design (www.saimasaysdesign.com) to design our save-the-dates and invitations. We have our save-the-dates and they are gorgeous! I’m thrilled– they look very Indian and exotic, but still so modern. I’ll be writing a post with pictures in the next month (just as soon as we get them mailed out).

I’ve heard fabulous things about indianweddingcard - the prices can’t be beat and they have some very beautiful, traditional designs. Let me know if you have any more questions!

miss jasmine–
i recognized that you are indian, while your fiance is pakistani. did this ever pose a problem for your families? i’ve heard that inter-cultural marriages are oftentimes most difficult for parents to accept. do you and your fiance share the same religion? and if not, how did this come into play when introducing your relationship to your parents?

indian430: It was definitely not easy for us and both parents had to learn to adjust. But I have to admit that everything as far as the parents were concerned turned out better than we anticipated. Feel free to email me at jasmine@weddingbee.com if you would like to discuss more!
