Veiled In Indecisiveness

November 11th, 2007 @ 10:27 am by Mrs. Petunia

Dearest Bee readers:

I need your help pronto! Who knew it would take 6 months to order a veil from Pronovias? Guess those Spanish seamstress hands work all that lace at quite the siesta pace! So since I’m getting married in a little less that 4 months, I have no choice but to buy the sample — and I have to choose fast: want to get mine off the sales floor quick!

But as per usual, I can’t make up my mind and could use your help. I think I’ve got a favorite, and I sure know my mom’s got hers (I won’t tell you yet which is which), but I’d love to know which one is yours! Here they are, ranging from most expensive to least:

What are your thoughts?

  • c (68%)
    c -> 68% (536 Votes)
  • a (23%)
    a -> 23% (181 Votes)
  • b (9%)
    b -> 9% (70 Votes)

Total Votes: 787

a).

b).

c).

I love c the best because it is so elegant- but also because you can see the back of your gown which is lovely! Can’t wait to see the front of it!

C is best because you can still see the details of the back of your dress. A competes with your dress. B isn’t bad, but C is better :)

I voted for C as well, since the lace on it accentuates your gown so well–A and B are both lovely too, but the lines of the lace compete with your gorgeous dress just a bit.

I like C as well. It has an elegant simplicity to it that I think complements your gown really well

C- no question. The others are lovely but C looks the best with your particular dress- the bottom of C is really stunning!

definitely C - my best friend wore a similar veil in her wedding last month and it was so beautiful:

Of course the most expensive I like best, but C is beautiful also. B is great, too, but doesn’t compliment your gown as well as the other two. It draws attention away.

I agree, C won’t distract from your dress

Definitely C - I love the lasce detail but it allows all the detail of your dress to shine through as well.

Those are some long veils.
The design of the others would be good if your dress were far simpler with a rather boring back… but the back of your dress has a personality of its own that needs to be seen through the veil.
C is a better choice.

I think C is the best!…and definately not B because the design halfway up the back makes the rear look very wide!

Why not order exactly what you want for 1/3 the price at http://www.occanseydesigns.com or http://www.trupink.com ?

C is absolutely amazing! It shows your beautiful dress and just accentuates it completely. Please pick C! :)

Yes, please pick C! A competes with your dress but is still pretty, but B….umm, I don’t understand it and think it really detracts. C! CCC!

C, of course! It highlights the beauty of your dress rather than detracting from it.

Good luck in choosing!

I would go with C too~ it would be a shame to cover up the back of that beautiful dress.

Wow, gorgeous veil choices Miss Petunia! I voted C as well but they would all look stunning with your gorgeous dress!

definitely C - the other two are just too busy, and they detract from your dress. :) but C is perfect!

Thank you all SO MUCH for taking the time to vote — I certainly didn’t expect so many responses on a Sunday!

YAY! C was MY choice from the very start, but for some reason, my mother, my sis-in-law, one of my best friends, the salespeople at the bridal shop AND the other women who were there with other brides shopping all LOVED B. I, on the other hand, just felt entirely swallowed by it, by I wanted to entertain what was so amazing about it that I just wasn’t seeing. Maybe it loses something in the picture…

I do truly love A also, but I think it’s probably better suited for someone getting married in a beautifully large cathedral or synagogue — it won’t work as well for me, the more I think about it, for my outdoor ceremony.

Arivechi: you are right — they are LONG! But since my dress only has a lip of a train, I wanted the veil to add some drama.

Ashley: I didn’t mean to get the impression that these weren’t the exact ones I did want — just that I won’t be able to order them and that I’ll have to buy the floor sample. I was so ready to buy from veilshop or from occansey when I was going for a veil with no trim, but I don’t think I’ve seen anything with this kind of lace work on those sites; maybe I’m not navigating them well? I’ll check again just to make sure — thanks!

Thanks to ALL of you — this has been quite the productive weekend for me!

Ooh, cdd: thanks for sharing that picture with me — AMAZING! It also helped me see how I need to wear the veil higher up (it was just so hard with my messy bun)! Your best friend looked stunning!

Miss Petunia -

Just ran across your blog post about veils - I happened to purchase two extra Pronovias veils that I cannot return and are willing to part with. One is the Olga (resembles choice C with silver thread weaved into it) and the other is the Linares (resembles choice A). They’re both brand new - email me or leave a message on my wedding website if you’re interested. Good luck!

I like c because it’s simple, but still very stunning. And the cheapest, which is a plus as well.

I like C because you get to see the back of the dress more. A draws your eyes to the veil instead of the dress, and B cuts the dress in half and gives the wearer a wider appearance.

I voted A and/or C (so I selected A). I just didn’t like the blusher/strait-across line on B. With A or C I don’t think you could go wrong. :-)

You can’t go wrong with some as simple and refined as “c.” Just like the others have said, it adds elegance without distracting from your dress. I originally liked “a,” but then the lines made it look like tracks and I was looking up and down, instead of taking in the whole view.

Petunia,

I searched for my wedding gown for the first time yesterday and veil B is one of the veils that I tried on. I really like B, but it is so expensive. I am trying to find other stores that sell it too. Do you mind telling me the name and phone number that you went to try on the veils?
