Get Your Wedding Wings

November 14th, 2007 @ 2:24 pm by Mrs. Lovebird

A couple of weeks ago, before I decided to go the travel agent route, I looked up all the airlines that service Cancun and went to each of their websites to sign up for event/group rates.

Below is a partial list of major airlines which fly out of the US that provide service to and from CUN aka Cancun, Mexico (there might have been a few that I overlooked).  But the group information is not specific to flights to and from Cancun, it is applicable for all their flights.  For a “complete” list of airlines that service Cancun from all over the world, go here

For other destinations, a good place to start would be trying to Wikipedia the airport your guests will be flying into.  Or, you can always go to your airport’s official website if they have one.  From there, you can see the airlines that service that airport, narrow down which airlines to look for and then see if they offer group travel rates.  It’s usually best to go to the airline’s official website because they have a form you can fill out about your group size and desired travel dates, and they contact you within a couple of days.

The links below bring you to the airline’s official group/event/wedding travel page and all information is taken directly from their official sites.  Once again, this information is not Cancun specific and should be applicable to all the cities the airlines fly to.  For complete information, visit the site! I am just posting the most relevant info.

American Airlines

AmericanAirlines Group & Meeting TravelSM has developed a unique wedding travel package that offers a 5% discount off the lowest applicable air fare, plus complimentary wedding invitation inserts to inform your out-of-town guests of the discount. These special discounts are available when 10 or more out-of-town guests travel to your wedding on American Airlines.

Whenever you are traveling with 10 or more people (including children), you can request Group Service in Aeromexico, and enjoy a variety of benefits.

Benefits

Check-in - You can check-in as a group, at a check-in counter dedicated to your party.

Tour Conductor - The tour conductor flies for free on groups of 30 or more passengers.
Discounts - Enjoy great savings; the more people in your group, the larger the discounts.

Special Services

For large groups, who take 80% or more of the aircraft seats, we offer exclusive benefits, like a welcome sign at the airport, special greeting in the plane, seat covers and more. Talk to your Aeromexico Groups executive to make the arrangements.

Delta

For groups of 10 or more passengers on the same flight, our Group and Specialty Sales Center will be glad to evaluate your request for blocked space using the following guidelines.

Most of the airlines were pretty good about getting back to me fairly quickly.  Happy planning!

Hopefully it won’t be too long until I see this lovely view again.

Wow — thank you for all of that legwork! I just flew home from CUN on Saturday, and I totally understand why you’re wanting to return!

Hey Miss Lovebird, randon question: what is the most reasonable (i.e. cheapest) price you’ve gone to Cancun for? (If you’re comfortable telling me, you can just email me.) I’m dying to go for my winter vacation (between Xmas and New Year) but I don’t really want to pay over $600/person for a 4-5 day package. I don’t know if it’s not a reasonable budget..
